How should I promote my website?

Guyz, do you know of any forums on the net, wherein i can promote my website for free? My webs- humindian.com and you can take a look at it by visiting my mylot profile. I don't understand how people generate lots of traffic on their websites.. The problem with humindian is that it covers a wide topic-India..that's what I think..Any suggestions..people? Thanks !!

People get a lot of traffic through Search Engine Optimization not direct traffic. SEO is all about getting a lot of links back to your site, hence we call those links 'backlinks'. Together with decent keyword research you should get quite some traffic without any mundane forum posting and things like that. There's enough free information available on the web on SEO. However if you have any questions you can ask them.
