Christening cake - a fairytale castle for a fairytale christening

My daughter has just finished her second cake since she had to stop die to an arm operation. She is however cutting down now on the cake because of her arm, so there won't be as many of her lovely designs for me to share with you. This is a lovely fairy tale Christening cake, she is now planning what to make for our new arrivals christening cake in January. As my daughter and her husband used to refer to the unborn baby as 'bubbles' she is planning to incorporate some bubbles into the design. I will keep you all posted!!

Over use does play a big factor in joints hurting and needing surgery. I am glad she is back to doing some of her lovely creations.

Is this a disease process or is it caused from an injury?

It is the muscles that are damaged, the operation only stopped it going worse, she will still have some pain!

They don't really know what caused it, it's not a disease, I fancy it's the cake work that's done it and she left it too long to get sorted!

Good news to be back cake making. Being at full strength would be a little optimistic right now. Just in time for Christmas is good.

It is lovely isn't it, her age must be catching up on her! Makes me feel old when my daughter is having aches and pains!!!

up until mom was in her 70s, she had been healthier than I had been for years because of the fibro!

I know I have told you this many times, but I just have to say it again...your daughter is so talented!! I just love her cakes, I wish she could ship them to the States, but I don't think they would hold up very good. I am glad she is getting back to her passion after her surgery. I am sure it must be difficult for her to have to cut down, but she has to do what is best for her! I think the bubbles would add a wonderful touch!

Hiya chem, Perhaps she could find somebody to help her and who is willing to learn. She could still design and the other help and learn at the same time. That way she could still do what she likes doing. I know two Women who have had that operation done too as they run a Greengrocers and they are both back at work again. They say they have no choice really and I suppose it makes sense too in a way. They are risking getting the same injuries again but they need to work they said. They are a great pair both of them.

Hiya chem, Oh if you want something done you do it yourself. But what I meant was she could teach someone to assist her not really take over what she does. Like sustain the sugar Icing thing when her arm aches and all that and still learn basic important things of the Job in hand. I like to do my own things but I donĀ“t mind People giving me a helping hand every so often.

I think she's too much like me and doesn't like delegating!! It took me a long while to hand it over to her!!!

I do not know what I have done but my other posts did not go through, so I will try again. It will take time, but I am sure it will get easier to control the bags. Time will help a lot. Her ideas are just so unique, and I wish her good luck. Just time and not over doing it at any one time should help.

Thank you, yes it is hard to be handicapped from doing your everyday things - she had a month of not being able to use her arm.

It is such a good new that her talented hands are back to work again. Probably, she will just work a little slowly not to hurt her arm. But it is such a blessing that she can again continue to share her talent with cake making to people who are going to celebrate special occasion in their lives. Good luck to your daughter.
