Do you have faith/

I just read a blog on this and thought you might like to think about this. I think I have faith that things will go on as they must, that there is a lesson behind everything that happens, that most of life is beyond my control and there is value in me so that whatever happens to me is for my best interest. I have no faith that what I think is good for me will happen, or that I have control that can make it happen. And when bad things happen I hate it and am often angry at first but I have learned that if I just ask for help to see it through there will be value in the lessons being taught. At my age we face a lot of death some of it easy and some very hard, but I know this is part of life and try to enjoy memories of better times and the good things I can see going on around me. How do you handle life's ups and downs?

I love your attitude Pat and I agree with you. There is so much out of our control that there is no point fighting our way through life. I have specific dreams and goals but I have no idea if they are meant to manifest. I know I will be hurt and disappointed if things don’t work out according to my wishes and I will have to feel what I feel and move with the knowledge that there is a reason for everything and trust that the Universe knows which will be the best path for me to follow. It is not easy to relinquish control and a true test of faith but in my opinion we don’t really have a choice...

I think that knowing that there are better times to come is actually one of the key coping mechanisms that I have in my life. There have been times that I have faced adversity that I really didn't think that I was going to be able to overcome, but I'm able to get through everything because I know that there are good times to come somewhere and I also realize the value of the memories that I have from the past.

I really believe in faith. I think faith is the strongest thing in everyone's life. Meeting the right and wrong persons at some point of time, ups and downs is all part of faith. So I totally believe in faith. If someone does not like us is also a faith.

I handle the ups and downs knowing that however bad something seems, something good will come out of it. I may not see it at the time but everything happens for a reason and that helps me through it. I have faith in God that He will take care of me, He always has.

Faith is hoping and believing for things unseen. I believe that almost all people in the world have faith. But for faith to not be useless, it has to have a strong foundation. A foundation where faith will not be wasted and can stand against the test of time. God wants us to have faith in Him. Only if we have this true relationship with His son Jesus Christ can we fully survive life's hurdles and storms.

It is true that there are a lot of things in our lives that we cant control. we don't have powers over. We just have to accept it no matter what. Most of the time unexpected things happen unexpectedly. Its like when a storm builds up in the middle of the night. It can be scary and awful.. You cant sleep. you toss and tumble in bed. but when the morning comes, the storm stops. Everything is calm and quite. You feel relieved and grateful that you remember to patch the holes on the roof when your mom/wife told you to.

You know what, savy. Before, I remember myself for being so angry with my faith because I have been struggling a lot and when you think that you're struggles and your good faith has been unrewarded, you will start questioning it. But my mom told me that it's not faith. It's a faith but a conditional one because you're starting to question it. And it's like you're being a sure one that you'll get what you want as long as you remain faithful. I was so ashamed of myself then because I know God is good yet I overlooked His blessings and took it for granted for so many times. Right now, I am starting to have this attitude to take any trials like it's my only food for today. Because I know that it's gonna make me more strong and will help me handle my life in storms in the next days of my life. And my relationship with God has never been this good. I am forever thankful to Him and to the good people around me

One rule that seems universally applicatiobe is that there will always be some events over which we do not have personal hold but our attitude towards them is our own creation and, therefore, the right attitude lies in our own hands. For example, there may be a sudden natural calamity like the tsunami tidal wave, or a communal riot or a change in government policy that affects us adverserly. It is neither a thing of our own creation nor of our own choosing. We could never change such event. So what are we going to to do? Take is as a fact of life. Our attitude should be of acceptance of the fact that it has happened and we should try to find the remedy instead of feeling upset or shaken and losing the courage to face the challenge.

Hi savypat, I have learned to take life one day at a time and not to worry about something before it happens. Although things often happen that upset me, after it has passed I return to my belief that all things happen for the best, that there is an order to things that we don't understand. As I'm sure you know we don't get through life without some worries and troubles. At the moment I am in good health and thankful for every day. I know that someday I will leave this body and I hope to have the strength to face anything that happens to me before that time. Dieing I often feel is much easier than living. Blessings.

A few years ago, I went out of control because I lost faith in everything. It was very scary. But I am starting to realize that things really do happen for a reason and it all determines on the way you look at things. It's still hard, the fear still lingers but I am in a better place than that time I lost all hope.

I handle ups by enjoying it and preserving it as much as I can so that in the future I can still savor the memories. I handle downs by surrounding myself with the people I trust and the people that can make me laugh.

Hi, I have faith in the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I find it very comforting to believe in a Higher Power because I know that I can talk to Him, and He has my life in control. As for life lessons, I believe in a type of karma, like direct consequences for each action that we take, and (and I find this really neat) that if I learn a word, for instance, "juxtapose", then suddenly I see it more often in reading articles. Our lives are so complex in how we are made, and how things seem to fit in our lives (events) that there must be a G-d up there, and I have felt His reassuring Presence quite a few times.

Oftentimes when we are facing problems, we see darkness in all areas. We forgot the to appreciate people who are always praying for us, the small opportunities that comes along the way or the simple smile of our children. In short, we are blinded with the problems especially if it is financial in nature not recognizing that little by little, God is doing a miracle to save us. The fact that we can sustain living in a day, having a meal and still have a work means God is still with us. By praying and having a huge faith to God, life's ups and downs will be bearable.

I think you have expressed it well. You have to have faith that in the big picture all things will work out. I have faith, and when faced with difficult times I think my faith grows and expands and fills up the needs that we have. I have faith in God and in His plan for me and in His ultimate care for me, even when I do not understand all that is going on.

It's not about ups and downs. It's about what you do with the ups and downs. Look at the guy who won the Nobel Peace Prize then found out his wife had cancer! He began a serious quest for a cure for cancer. He's now closer to finding it than anyone has been yet! Everything in our lives can lead to a better society no matter how insignificant. Everything we've done has led us to the person we are today!
