Now all over the world you here on the web about different martial arts and various forms of combat. Now each one claims that there form of combat is the best and that if you train in there system then you will be unbeatable. Well you go into the school or you get the training videos and books. You start training, and one day you get into a fight and you either lose or it takes everything that you have to win. Some of these guys that have there art are saying that you can be a couch potato and train with there art for a limited time and be able to beat anyone regardless of who they are. Now me personally I believe that when it comes to combat it is not the combat art that wins the fight, but it is the person using the combat art that wins the fight. As well I believe that training in combat arts does not make you invincible, but only better prepares you for the fight. As well regardless you have to train constantly in order to master any combat art. I also believe that you have to have good physical conditioning in order to win a street fight. So what do you think?

I dont think in this day and age we should be looking at individual martial arts styles, instead we should look at combing them in harmony and the best styles to have as weapons in my opinion are Krav maga, jeet kune do and a ground fighting style such as ju jitsu. As the first 2 styles do not compete as a sport so they are not bound by rules and therefore are perfect for dealing with situations faced on the streets of today.

Hmmm. I am small and petite so I want to learn how to defend myself by targeting weak points. Somehow when I tried karate, I kick and punch hard enough than other female with the same height and body structure. But I still feel so fragile especially when surrounded by big big guys. Poor me! ='(

I think each martial art is unique in their own way. It is really up to the person using the art. He may excel over others and win a fight. You may have the a very great style of martial art but if you are not practicing it, then most likely there is no chance of winning. One way to become good is practice real hard and do the stuff with your heart. From the word itself, martial art... I look at it as an art and the more you hone your skills the better you become.

To me, the best martial arts is Wing Chun, a form of Chinese martial art that has been passed down generations by generations by grandmaster Ip Man. This martial art focuses on the weakest points of the body, which includes the armpit, neck, etc. Well, the thing is, everybody can say that their martial art is the best, it's unbeatable, but then, when it comes to real application, nobody can really fully utilize it. Actually, it doesn't matter what type of martial art you're learning that makes you unbeatable or powerful, it's actually the kind of combination which you use in the martial art, that makes it powerful and even fatal at times. If you've watched the action movie, Ip Man, you will see his combinations and how he uses it. There's no fixed way for fighting, right? So if you know the basic, you'll know how to manipulate it in different ways, which develops it into deadly combinations. So, the whole point of combat fighting/martial arts is, the way you manipulate your basics. Once you know the move and can use it in different ways, you are a winner

The martial art one employs in self defense the one which is used only as a sport is the best. The martial art employed to attack and injure others is a bad sort of martial art.

There is no "BEST". Each style has it's strengths & weaknesses. A well rounded fighter trained in many forms will be more versatile & do better than someone trained in only one. Books & video's can't do much for you either. You have to have actual training for it to be effective.

It all depends on your attitude and also your strengths and weakness. Every art has its own style and the best one always depends on your perception

every martial arts have weakness i think. i was joined tae kwondo club and in there my teacher thought me to learn as much martial arts as you can. and i think that means every martial arts have weakness. and if you know the weakness of something of course you have way to beat it. but in many martial arts they not train to fight, its all about self defense. if you can dodge a fight so it better to dodge it.
