I haven't seen Inception and I don't really plan to. I think it has a good chance of taking a few Oscars, but typically the Oscar judges (who are film industry professionals) will pick films that lesser-known and less famous. Why? I don't know. To shun popular culture maybe. And maybe because they, as film professionals, are a bit miffed that people like James Cameron are making more money then they are.
I'm a film student so it's practically required that I watch the Oscars. I know most of my favorite movies won't even get a nod, and if they do then it will be well-deserved.

lol, I should have said that I love independent films and I love that the Oscars actually recognizes them. Of course my favorite independent films are WAY off the radar... but it's nice to see that they care more about giving an award to a movie that deserves more publicity and love rather than a movie that's just popular.

I think Inception will be nominated for a lot of awards, including Best Picture, but I don't think it's going to win outside of effect awards. It's a shame, because it's my favorite movie of the year for sure, but it just doesn't seem to have strong Oscar buzz right now. Being able to see the movie's great cast on the red carpet will be a lot of fun though, I have a huge crush on Joseph Gordan-Levitt. I also think they might win the SAG award for the best ensemble cast.
