We had our family Christmas party this weekend at my brothers...my sisters and their famlies were there too. We have it early as there are so many little ones who have sports tournament and Christmas programs over the holidays that it get harder to get together the closer it comes to Christmas. It was a wonderful party. We keep it simple. We had four kinds of soups...special breads...appetizers...and everyone brought a tray of their goodies they have made for the holidays. Way too much to eat...but so much fun grazing! LOL! Have you had your first party yet?

Good morning Jill, sounds like a fun time. I like the idea of the soups, i'm very fond of soup & it was not so hard on everyone i bet. The only thing i have planned is cooking christmas eve, wish me luck, This old gray mare 'ain't' what she use to be. I'm not very social so haven't been invited anywhere, lol.

Yes, we had a holiday dinner party last night with my husband's employees. It was held at a beautiful country club and the food was excellent. We didn't exchange gifts since it was a lowkey party. We have another party in a couple of weeks and then Christmas Eve at my brother's house. Also have a friend coming in town for a week so it will be good to see her. Know what you mean about kids having sporting events and other holiday parties. We had to move things around many years ago when our kids were younger.

I can imagine the fun you had with your brother and sisters. Glad you had a good time. Visiting is my favorite thing to do when company is in town.

We decided that if it gets down to just the six of us....one brother..three sisters and two inlaws...that will be okay too. In fact we are the only ones that stayed over at my brothers and it was so much fun in the morning having coffee and muffins together alone....just visiting!

Well I had what I'd call my first holiday party, started last Wednesday and still going on..Actually it is Hanukkah and the first night we had special food and some readings. Then Saturday we had more special food and some gifts were opened. This isn't over until Thursday and more gifts and food to prepare until then. So it is more or less an ongoing party...lol For Christmas we probably won't do much, my youngest daughter will probably bring something over like she did last year..We may have special food as well, plus I will make my famous peanut butter fudge for any who wants any.

If I hadn't dropped out of one of the playgroups that I used to be a member of, we would be having our first Christmas party this weekend, but I quit that group because I really didn't have the time for it anymore. That said, we will probably be doing all of our Christmas partying on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We will have some Christmas themed playgroups with my new group, but we aren't having a formal Christmas party this year because our group isn't really large enough yet.

That sounds like a great group! I haven't been to any Christmas parties this year, but I doubt I will. I'll be taking care of my dad. However, I plan to make this holiday very special for him. He hates beng cooped up, and he'll be house bound for a month at least the doctor says. I'll just make sure we have some fun.

We only go to 1 party a year, hubby's company party. This year that is set for the 18th. Hubby isn't sure yet if he wants to go due to financial reasons. It isn't usually all that much fun anyways, but I usually just look at it as a night away from the kids and around other adults.

Hey jill! Sounds like you have a really "partying" family! I think that it's great that you all make time to be together no matter when it' convenient for all of you! I wish I had family to get together with period~ I am happy for you that it was a fun time. I don't usually have parties to go to unless some of my friends decide to have one or I do! My gf from across the street and I were talking about plans for Christmas! That's a start!

Your family is so level headed. My mother always insisted on a full turkey dinner on Christmas Eve. I wanted a soup and appraiser party and my sister wanted a pizza party. Ugh. Now my hubby and I can do it our own way. Just him and me.

Gracefully fascinating! I asked my mom that we kinda change the menu for this year because for the past 10 years or so, all they want to buy and eat are seafoods; crabs and shrimps. I know these are good food but OMG, my taste buds are getting numb out of this. Hopefully, we get to change it this holiday season.

I haven't hosted a Christmas party, but every year on Christmas Eve, I visit my family for the majority of the day. It's so much fun. Food isn't my favorite part, though. I love just being with my family members. We play a lot of table-top games and just socialize. It's a great time.
