Evelyn Waugh's classic Brideshead Revisited is now made into a more than 120 minutes full length film in 2008. This movie provides a wonderful vista into the pre-war years of England. Reflecting from the memories of a forlorn Captain Charles Ryder, it showcases the issue of Roman Christian orthodoxy of religion of a family that inhabits Brideshead Castle.
The main plot features a young student and painter from Paddington, London and his run-ins with the Flyte family, his estranged friendship with their son and his passionate and undying love for their daughter,Julia Flyte. Surrealistic flashbacks from as far as ten years and then forward to the last four years, the movie provides the mood of the times right up to the war years.
This movie has a tinge of Atonement and the haunting feel of the Remains of the Day.
Good movie to watch and reminisce.
Stars Matthew Goode,Michael Gambon and Emma Thompson and the lovely Hayley Atwell as Julia Flyte.
