I am a college student but i am not enroling in nursing.
few years ago, nursing is the most demand course here in the Philippines because nurses are the most demand jobs all over the world. Nursing schools are mmultiplied rapidly. But, as i observe now a days, there are already a lot of nurses who have no jobs just staying in their house doing nothing but still there are many students preferred to enroll in nursing..
Is being a nurse still the most demand jobs now a days??
supposing that you are a student who is enrolling for a course, would you choose nursing as your primary course??why and why not??

hi there! i am a nursing student in Phillipines.
as what you have said, nursing is the most in demand course here in our country.
plenty of nurses here work abroad.
i chose nursing because i do believe that this is the best way i can earn money that will raise us from poverty. but nowadays nursing is falling down due to lots of nursing graduates who don't have work.
i still believe that time will come that there will be opportunity for me to find a good work to help my family.
have a nice day!
godbless...

I am a nurse now and if given the opportunity to go back to to choose a course I would definitely not choose nursing. I was just forced by mother. She said that if I would not take up Nursing then I can't go to school. It's like Nursing or nothing. It is not practical for now to take up this course. It is very expensive and if you finished the course, there is no guarantee that you can use it in line with the job you'll get. If you want to be a nurse in a big hospital, there is a great competition and you're not even sure if you'll be part on the institution. If you want to be in the academe, you have to take masters course to teach. It is a tough world for nurses not just here in the country but also abroad.
I always believe that if you are destined to be rich or stay abroad or to be successful in life, the courses you take in the university does not really matter. You have to work hard, persevere and motivate yourself to be able to be successful.
I would like to study linguistics if given the chance to do so.

Nursing has been in demand for so many years. I think it will continue to be so. Nurssing offers many opportunities to do something good for ourselves and for others.

Yes, that was a few years ago, now I think some countries have already stopped demanding nurses, but the nurses are still growing in number.. Maybe by the time they graduate, there's no more job for them. Job trends change every few years, now the demand is on computer stuff- or technology related courses..

Dear chowee. It's good to know that you are from the Philippines, kababayan. Talking about nursing courses, I believe that it is still on demand abroad specially in Canada. Also caregiving, which has sprouted lately. But in my case, I am already too late for that 'cause I already took up computer science.

Nursing is definitely a great job. You get to take care of people and get to save lives. But lets face it, the demand for the job right now is not that high. There are so many nurses out there working in a different setting due to lack of job openings and there are a lot of nurses who has no work right now waiting for an opportunity. I do hope that the demand will rise again.

If I thought I could stomach it I would definitely choose nursing. It's a rewarding career choice with a lot of options. The pay is good, you're helping people to better their health, and there are so many different ways that you can use your nursing degree. I don't know any nurses who can't get jobs... even the ones who have been fired can find another place to work. Also, the responsibilities of healthcare professionals have been broken down and led to the creation of additional positions in the medical field. If it weren't for positions like home health aids and CNA, a lot of people who lack the resources to obtain a college degree would be out of jobs. These two positions alone, along with caretakers, medical billing, etc, have created a lot of job opportunity for people who want to enter the workforce quickly.

For a fact that I am not good in math and science as in general I wouldn't really prefer nursing. Practically speaking nursing must be a very serious course that you are studying about the life of a human especially on how to make their health and conditions survive. I won't take that if my concern is just to go abroad and to make myself rich or at least I could help for the financial stability. Because if being a rich or financial stable would be my concern then I would rather take a course in business and sales that has really something to do with money. Even the fact that I am not good in math especially the computation then I will be having motivation to study that course just to make myself rich and stable. I don't believe that nursing is still the most demand course for today. I know someone who is actually a registered nurse but then she is now a professor in English that teaches Korean students. I don't have any idea right now if she still continues in the field that has something to do with nursing. But then as I heard it from other people they just even pay for the training. You see? aside from that fact that you will be charge for the review in board exam you will be also charge when you are in training. A student must have a high motivation, objective and willingness to take this course especially the fact that this is not a big joke that the life of human will be relied on you. Therefore nursing is not the always the solution for the survival in finances but it must be a decision from your heart with sincerity that you are willing to help other people in order for them to survive.

For me, People still gets ill. Nursing is on demand but not the most demand job. The thing is you need to make sure you get the Nurse certificate. If you don't have it, it's hard to find the job after you graduated.

. .nursing is not what is in demand now a days maybe because there are so many college graduates who are still unemployed, competition arises as demand get high though nursing maybe the in demand job still school that you are in too are still one of the factors that will determine that will you get a job or not.
. . .they say that there are no discrimination in terms of school but believe me that school matters most in our time. The better the school the best chance you will get, backer is also a factor and still your academic excellency remains still your best equipment!!!
