hi friends.
because bhajji rested for this ODI series,we have ashwin as the frontline spinner.
well he is tall and i have seen him in domestic matches where the ball did a long long way.
he doesn't mind bowling in the powerplay with a nice economy of 4.8 and a decent enough average of 26.
considering he scored more than 2000 runs in the 32 first class matches with 2 centuries,we can assume that he can bat well too.
so we have someone who bowls off break, carrom balls, powerplay specialist, decent enough batsmen.
but will this be enough to become a part of the world cup squad considering we already have an allrounder who is also the main offspinner?

i dont think that ashwin will find a place in world cup 2011 squad because harbhajan and ojha have an edge over ashwin and also yuvraj and yusuf are bowling well, so it would rather be optimistic to hope that ashwin will make into the squad

Well in my view selectors will give more importance to Harbhajan Singh if they have to choose only one off spinner. That is because he has more experience than Ashwin in international cricket. Recently Yousuf Pathan too proved that he is good all rounder and scored a century and help India to win. So, Ashwin selection for the World Cup will happen only if selectors ignore players like Ravindra Jadeja, Ohja,Mishra, etc.

I think it would be a tough decision.Already now we have Harbhajan as the main offspinner and he too can bat well.So there is no option other than him.Even if we want to play as another off spinner there is a huge in the team itself as part time bowlers. In the team itself we will be having Kohli and Raina as thay are now used as part time bowlers.Even if captain Dhoni thinks that he need one more,I think he will go for Yusuf Pathan as he can deliver some big hits towards the end .He is such a huge player who is named for it.So I don't think Ashwin will be there in the World cup team( may be he will be there in the squad).

no i dont think Aswin will get a chance in the world cup squad.
India has two main spinners: Harbajan, and oja.
and yusuf pathan will be included in the team as all rounder.
aside from these three, we have two or three par time bowlers, so i dont think that Aswin will get a chance.

I feel Ashwin will definitely find a place in world cup squad of fifteen. as he is a talented off spinner and very handy batsman particularly at the slog overs. We have seen him bat with long handle in I.P.L. as well as in O.D.I.s for India. As about getting a place in playing eleven, Bhajji has to be definitely preferred over him but he can still find the place as second off spinner but that will again depend on ground conditions and type of the opposition. There has been lot of discussions of recent in news papers about playing the two off spinners in the game.

yes, I'm also impressed with ashwin's skill set.
I'm sure he will be the part of world cup team but i don't think he will be the part of actual 11 squad . Because yesterday yusuf pathan made an excellent come back century. Also he is a spin bowler, so there are more chances for him.

R. Ashwin can find a place in the squad of Indian team for the World Cup but it would be difficult for him to find a place in the XI because team management prefers three seamers and one spinner. But if team thinks about two specialist spinner they can take R. Ashwin. His contenders are Pragyan Ojha, Ravinder Jadeja, Amit Mishra etc. But now Ashwin has better chance than the others
