I am a parent of a 15 year old, a disabled child aged 3 and a baby aged 18 months old. I am a primary school teacher. I know that some 4 year old have a vivid imagination and this make believe stuff makes them happy. In children's picture books there can be books with princesses and talking butterfly in. When I was a child I pretended to be a horse for a game. It was make believe that at that time I very much enjoyed. I think that it is best if you play along with your daughter's imaginative make believe.

I would be more concerned if your 4 year old wasn't playing "make-believe."
I have 5 children and they all did it and each one had a very different imagination.

I am not myself a parent yet, but, I think that playing make-believe enhances the creativity of children. Some children are more imaginative than others, because just like adults, each child has his/her own talents.
