I am listening right now to Casting Crowns songs. Their music is all about God. I feel happy and at peace while listening to the songs. It's like something or someone has touched my heart. There are songs that I feel like crying when listening to them. I really can't explain it. How about you guys? What songs do you like to listen to? Share it here...

I am a Christian and have a huuuuuge collection of Christian music (music written and performed by Christians generally marketed specifically to Christians) but I also have a lot of music that wouldn't fit that definition.
There are songs that can impact me emotionally written by both believers and non-believers.
Tim Miner has a song called "forgive me" from the late 80's or early 90's (i can't remember off the top of my head) that gets me every time. It's basically just about how we continually fall short so any Christian can relate to it but the way he delivers it has a lot to do with the impact. It's like you can hear the tears when he's singing.
Babyface & Steve Wonder did a song called "how come, how long" about a woman in an abusive relationship. Totally gets me teary eyed every time i hear it.
I think songs written out of personal experience tend to have the most emotional impact on the listener whether or not the artist or listener are a Christian ... but obviously as believers any song that makes us as listeners meditate on Christ and what he did is going to bring a myriad of feelings to the surface. humility, sadness, happiness, comfort, etc.

You're right about the things you said. The artists can reach out to the listener easily if the songs somehow relates to their own personal experience. It's like to saying to them "I have been there, I understand how you feel". And this kind of feeling touches the most sensitive part of us and makes us feel comfortable as we sing the song. Thanks for your great response.
