First, it was the teachers and the whole education department is feeling the sting of having a budget cut. Now, its the justices and the whole judiciary system that facing the slash in the piggy bank. Do you think that it is reasonable to cut the budget of the judiciary. Unlike the education department, the whole judiciary is an equal branch of the government, sans entailing more work than a department (with equal importance of course when it comes to duties and responsibilities). Do you think that both branches of the government is going to crash with each other?

I trust the current administration to the the right thing. I think our President is laying some if not all of his cards to us people. He is transparent unlike our ex presidents. I believe this move is for the betterment of our country. A sacrifice is needed in order to achieve something. :)

It's part of the system of check and balance which we copied from the Americans. I don't think a lot of people know that the Supreme Court also gets the filing fees from all the cases filed from the lowest court to the Supreme Court. There are so many cases filed and if I remember correctly, at the end of the year, the money not spent by any department goes back to the national coffers. I remember that during Davide's time, the Chief Justice always made sure to return something to the treasury. The subsequent justices made allocations for new cars and refurbishing of the SC building, which means they have the money to window dress. Why can't they dip into that coffers for the salaries of the judges? Why do they want to share further in the meager funds of the national government? Plus, these judges have allowances from the city and the province, and they want an increase? That's just too much.

Well looking at the financial position of the government after the transition I think it is just proprietary to adjust and cut some budget in some of the departments and offices. We cannot force anything to be spent if the money is not available for that. I think the judiciary budget was the first one cut long time ago.
