Do you care more about instrumentals or vocals?

In most songs there are instrumentals along with vocals. I personally care more about the vocals than the instrumentals since it's generally the singer that I'm most interested in. What about all of you? Do you care more about the instrumental music or the vocals/singing?

well, technically i prefer more on instrumental than vocals. yes, with the vocals you can hear and feel the emotion of the singer. but for me, its depth was with the instrumentals. from the intro up to the last part of every song. and the melody was with the instrumental. i love hearing the instrumentals, i also differentiate where every sound the instruments produces. but then, its still the singer who will take charge with rhythm and soul of the song. :)

I agree completely on what you said about the singer's emotion being important. Although I don't necessarily listen to music for instrumentals, I do agree that instrumentals can have a lot of depth and are very important to the song.

It depends of what kind of music you listen. For example at dance or house music I don't have any expectations for vocals. If we talk about reggae, jazz, rock the vocals are very important but in the case of jazz I like the instrumental music too.

Agreed. Dance music is quite obviously more instrumental focused and in rock/pop the vocals become more important.

Definitely to vocals. Instruments are too important, but vocals is more important for me.

I agree. I think vocals are truly the "soul" of a song.
