Have you gotten more work assignments? More exposure? Hated it or what? I've seen a jump in my page views and there seem to be more relevant opps than before.

I haven't got any more work assignments, but my page views (and residual income) jumped pretty good. One thing that I like about it is that an article doesn't have to be 400 words or more. I often write more, but there are times when a topic can be covered very well with fewer words and it's nothing more than "stuffing" to get the word count up. All in all, I think it will be good for us.

Tell me about it :) Right after finishing up a term paper, I got an writing assignment to do 400+ words on specific industry topics. Thing is that in doing the research, the descriptions were barely 100 words and the client said no keyword stuffing but make it entertaining. :P The writing world we live in, LOL. But I'm glad you too have seen a rise in page views.

The writing world we live in, indeed! Sometimes they ask the almost impossible. Maybe that's why we like it. ;)

I really think we will have more opportunities because yahoo bought Associated Content. I am having a positive experience.

I haven't seen any difference in page views. I get spikes in my views after posting links on my Facebook but that's about it; otherwise it stays pretty steady in the same area. I think they are kind of misrepresenting themselves. It is still Associated Content and your articles have to be purchased by Yahoo in order to appear on a Y! site but I know writers who have signed up thinking they are now writing for Yahoo. I don't like that. As for the assignments... I'm a Featured Contributor in the Arts & Entertainment - Music ....er, section and if I ever get music related assignments they are "select a topic of your choice and write about it." Well, that's what I do anyway. *shrug*

Hey Crimsonladybug, When I first heard of a competition they (AC) were having and the prize was a Yahoo Style Guide, I thought, 'AP, APA, MLA...another one to remember.' Then it came out about a month later that Yahoo's stock had dipped and they were going to have mass layoffs. A common marketing tactic when a business or brand is shaky is to blow it up to such gigantic proportions that you actually believe they are better than what they really are.

There hasnt been much things different since they changed over. The site layout has changed but other than that I havent seen much of a difference. I have been making more money in page views but that is probably because I moved up clout levels from level nine to level ten. I really enjoy the site even though they changed the name.

As someone who has been with AC from almost the beginning (the site went live in January and I joined in August of the same year) I have kind of abandoned it in search of other avenues since Yahoo! took over. I was a featured music contributor and was promised more assignments specific to my area of "expertise" but what I got was "Write whatever you want" - that is not an assignment, that's what I did anyway! Then those started coming fewer and farther between until they stopped almost entirely. Then they took away all of the featured contributor statuses and made us all reapply. And I just knew I couldn't compete because the "local" content opportunities in my area are too sparse and my integrity won't allow me to regurgitate stories from Popeater or TMZ. I still have articles up, still get performance payments for them and will post an article there occasionally so they don't decide to kick me off completely but they really have made it hard for me to compete. Suffice it to say, I have not been terribly excited with the changes that have come about from the acquisition.

Hi Jswindell, I just hope that the old system of paying page views for international writers is revived. Yahoo is an international company. If they really want to pay international writers, they can pay through the regional office, instead of through headquarters.

Good point, I never thought of that.

I haven't posted anything to AC in many months. I had a sort of falling out with them and even considered deleting my account. Lately I haven't had time.

A lot more work offered, but the pay per page views thing gets askew sometimes with Yahoo picking up articles, paying up front, and then page views being at zero for the life of the article. I like the changes overall so far, very minimal, but impactful.

I just joined a few days ago. SO far I like it. It seems similar to helium which I am also on. I will have to see in a few more weeks when I have a lot more content up.
