My 5 year old came home from school yesterday singing a Justin Bieber song. ("Baby"). Next thing I know, I hear him teaching it to his 2 year old sister. I asked him where he learned it, because I mostly listen to christian music. He said his friend, who is a girl, taught it to him. People say that America's youth are growing up way too fast, and I agree. I mean, seriously, 5 year olds singing a song about lost love? I mean, I know they don't know what they are singing, but that's the point. I am afraid of what he is going to come home singing next, lol.

That is the problem when kids go to school, they do learn from the outside world. But I think what a Christian should not do is shelter their children, but to teach them that the world is different. Not to be afraid or shun the world, for we are to be a light to the world. My son is eight and the only secular songs he has brought home is from music class, (the latest is "Rockin Robin"), but I have my music playing so much, he usually goes back to singing what I play..
So, whose your favorite group? Past or Present? The past for me is Audio Adrenaline and DC Talk, now I love Casting Crowns and Newsboys. Of course that doesn't include my other genre's that many people have never heard of..lol

Yeah, I don't want to shleter them, because that might push them to rebel when they get older. There is some secular music I listen to, and let them occasionally listen to. But my favorite christian groups would be : Past: dcTalk, 4Him and the original Avalon and Point of Grace. Current would be Kari Jobe, Chris Tomlin, and Casting Crowns. Oh, and I still like Rebecca St. James too! I like the Newsboys also, I saw them in concert about 3 years ago.

The only band I saw in concert was one my husband liked better than I and that was Petra. I would love to see the Newsboys or Toby Mac in concert sometime..:)

I don't like Bieber. He has no talent. How anyone thinks that this kid has talent is a mystery to me?

That is one of the things that I both like and dislike about my daughter being in school. She has come home with a lot of knowledge that I know she is not getting at home. Some of it is good things and other things aren't good things. When it comes to music, that isn't really something that I let bother me too much because I listened to all kinds of different music when I was a child. However, it was highly disturbing to me when Kathryn came home telling me how to spell cuss words.

its good because your child is learning lol. I am not reaaly a strong fan of justin beiber but honestly speaking i really really like his songs. My sisters are very addicted to justin but i cant blame them because that is their mode of entertaining themselves. Thumbs up for justin!!

Same situation with me, first time i learned his songs was from my 2 year old little brother. haha

So cute for a boy of 5 and is already humming on Justin Bieber song. It is also happening to my daughter but she is big enough to appreciate this singer's songs. She is 12 yrs old. It is not surprising children these days are growing up fast and they seems to mature faster than their age. We have to guide them on the right path.
