It really depends. I would say brown sugar works well with coffee :) I was told by one of my relatives that brown sugar is unproccess sugar. Pardon me if I am wrong :)

Kittycatnut has GIVEN you the correct info! There was a day and time, when brown sugar, was the healthier choice. Now all sugar is highly processed and bleached (unless the sugar you buy delineates a difference) and come out as white sugar (so it has been bleached) and then molasses are added, small amount for golden sugar, more for brown sugar! Molasses, of course, add sulphur to the sugar, making it a bit healther! Use "myLot's" search the web, and confirm this, for you own satisfaction. Cheers!

I've weaned myself from white sugar for health reasons. I'm not sick or anything, but cutting back is always a great idea. So I stuck with brown sugar in my coffee and honey in my tea. A month later, a made a drink with white sugar and I had a headache. That and I didn't enjoy my drink at all. It tasted bland and boring. White sugar is refined, meaning it went through a lot of processes. Brown sugar didn't go through a lot, retaining more flavor. It's a lot healthier, too!

I read of two kinds. One is partially refined, one is refined with molasses added. I would think the first type would be the more healthy kind, if either is more healthy than the other. Brown sugar for coffee, that intrigues me. I'll have to give that a shot. I usually don't add anything, but I'm adventurous despite my age.

Actually I don't know what is the difference between the brown and white sugar. But when I drink milk or coffee, I always add the white sugar. If we make a kind of sweet congee with green beans, then we will use the brown sugar. I love China

I avoid using white sugar unless I need to because it is really bad for your health to have to much white sugar. So I use organic raw sugar which has a light brown color to it. Your mom may have chose a different sugar for her drinks so she wouldn't consume to much white sugar. I myself do that same thing, I will bake with white sugar but when it comes to drinks I choose the organic.

I prefer the brown sugar, because it's sweeter and good for our health.

The only time I take brown sugar is when it is available when I am having coffee apart from that I never take sugar in any shape or form in any other drinks whether it is tea or coffee. It seems to blend well with coffee as far as my taste buds are concerned. I am not sure what the precise difference between brown or white sugar is but I think that white sugar is refined and brown is not.

I prefer brown sugar because it is healthier than white sugar. White sugar is been refined and was added some chemicals to make it white unlike brown sugar which does not go refining process. And for me brown sugar is sweeter than white so you will only put a very small amount of brown sugar to you coffee, juice, etc. In orange chicken, using brown sugar makes it more satisfying and delicious.
