Hi
For me WordPress is by far the better of the two. Not only can you do so much more with it, it's much better designed when it comes to getting traffic to your blog etc.
Having said that it depends on what you want to do with your blog as to how you go with wordpress. As the user above mentioned there's sort of two versions of it.
If you just want to have a blog to put down your thoughts and ideas etc then wordpress.com is the way to go. You pretty much set up your blog on their hosting etc. However you are limited in what you can do with it - smaller choice of templates and plugins and you can't add income streams etc.
So if you want to earn from your blog you're going to have go go about it a little differently - while ideally you'd have your own domain and hosting - you can get by with free hosts. What you'll want to do is find a host that is wordpress ready or can accept wordpress blogs then you need to go to WordPress.org to download the latest version..
The major bonus of wordpress over say blogger is the fact that is it very search engine friendly - makes it easier for you to get traffic - there's more plugins than I can mention that can make your blogging life a whole lot easier, plus it's very user friendly etc
I'd be happy to help if you want to learn more about wordpress - just give me a holler

What a great explanation, looks like wordpress is really the best one. I am using blogger but many of fellow bloggers used wordpress so maybe i should give it a try. But other said wordpress is a little complicated than blogger. I am not good in using code, html things like that i have fear that i can't use wordpress but will try. If i have questions maybe i should ask you, thanks again.

Wordpress is definitely better than blogger in the terms of reliability as well as services. But remember there are two forms of wordpress and don't get confused.
WordPress.com blogs are hosted by WordPress and there are no hosting or domain name fees. You don’t need to have much technical knowledge,so if you can use a word-processing application and navigate the Internet, you can use WordPress.com. The features and functionality available to WordPress.com users are limited, but you can purchase premium services to enhance your blog.
Wordpress.org is an open source application. If you are serious about your blog then this is the most recommended blogging platform. Open-source application code is freely available to anyone who wants to create enhancements and modify it to meet their needs. You need to download the application and then host it in a server. As such, WordPress.org requires some technical knowledge to use but offers great flexibility in terms of adding functionality and customization. My blog uses a wordpress.org platform.
Happy Mylotting!!!

What a great explanation, rojishroy! It took me years (literally!) to understand the difference between .com and .org. So it is great that you explained it so clearly, so others do not need to waste as much time on it as I did.

It all depends on what your goals and purpose with the blog is. I prefer Blogger.com myself, because it is so much easier to monetize, which is important to me. But this does not mean that Blogger.com fits you, if your goals and expectations are different.

Yup, i agree with you blogger is easy to monetize but i was aware of the incidents that they are deleting many bloggers account. The reason is spam which bloggers claimed that there is no spam in their blogs. Well maybe i should take a look with wordpress and compare since i am using blogger for a year now.
