There hasn't been much basketball San Antonio Spurs, so thought I would throw some info into the cake. I've seen discussion about the Heat and LaBron. Spurs are 1st in West Division. They are playing awesome ball this season. Will they make it all the way? I have an opinion, but would like to hear others. I might expect, Lakers, maybe Heat, Spurs and some others to make the playoffs. What do you think and why?

I stumbled upon an article about the spurs having the biggest three in the NBA so far. I think it was called "Will the real big three please stand up?"
It talks about the Spurs having the biggest three in the NBA so far, and so far I would have to agree. They may not be playing flashy basketball, but they are playing extremely good fundamental basketball. Duncan is playing less keeping himself fresh and healthy, Manu is playing like a player who found the fountain of youth and Parker seems to be unaffected by his divorce with Eva. The latter is really fascinating!
But yeah they are playing like contenders and the way Los Angeles is playing now, they may actually come out winning the west.

Let's not discount Miami
pulling it together, although, IMHO, not likely to occur in time to pull a Championship.

I always like the Heat from the time Riley moved from New York. They have a shot, but would they figure it out in time? If the Spurs remain healthy through post season and Splitter develops like Tim Duncan developed under David Robinson, the Spurs should be a tough Team to beat.

I'm not a basketball fan anymore, because I've discovered hockey.
But back in the day when basketball was all the only sport I knew, I used to hate the San Antonio Spurs because they were always good! That the road to the championship always had to pass through San Antonio.
Nowadays, I don't hear much about basketball. But I did saw them featured in one of the sports shows I watch because they were playing great as of late. And they were having a road winning streak which was just recently snapped.

I've investigated all the sports that I know about using a ball of puk. I didn't look at weight lifting, etc. I do like ice skating and some track events.
Of the ball sports I looked at, Basketball drew me, for some reason. Even in California, I preferred basketball.
When we moved to Texas 30+ years ago, the Spurs drew my attention. They have maintained it since. Although the Spurs are my favorite team, there are players on other teams I like. There are also other teams, like the Mavericks.
Baseball is too slow, football if too violent, as is hockey, IMHO.

I agree, they were an awesome team with David Robinson. He lives her in town and has private school. It just celebrated it's tenth anniversary. I don't like Duncan as well. I do like Manu and Tony Parker and George Hill. and Red Rocket, (name?) I want to say Bonham?
He does threes wonderfully. I know we will make it to playoffs, I'm hoping for at least third round or better

Oh, I'm alive...much to some people's dismay. My focus is transitioning to branding and promotion and developing a mailing list. I'm having an absolute ball attending training classes. Watching the highlights of Blazers and Spurs...20wins...
I'm on IM Faceplate, and several social sites, like APSense and Sweeva, etc.
I think we will make it too at least second round. That is where we were eliminated last season.

I think a lot of people overlook the Spurs since they aren't a flashy team like those you mentioned. They are just quietly doing their business and getting things done. The Spurs are a really great and solid team and they should never be left out of the equation when it comes to the NBA title. I know they are definitely going to make it to the playoffs but I don't know how far they'll get. There are many excellent and powerful teams in the league so the competition will be tough.

I appreciate your comments. Which teams do you think will make it to third round?
Curiosity!
Anyone else have input? Might be interesting to make a note of predictions and see how close we come. Make for interesting comments during the season too.

I've been really impressed with the Celtics this season. They are a solid and experienced team. I've watched a few of their games on TV and have been really impressed by them. I really think that they are the best team in the East at the moment. Chicago is also doing good too. It's good to see them on the rise again. I used to love watching the Bulls back during the Jordan era. The games were really exciting and now I'm seeing some of that old spark.
For the west there's the Lakers. We can't underestimate the previous champs after all. I also like Oklahoma City, they are a young and growing team. I don't know if they can reach the third round considering the competition but it would be nice to see them go that far.

I like your combinations. I too loved basketball during days of Jordan. I don't get to watch as much as I would like, but what I have seen you are on target. It's going to be interesting to see how everything shakes out. The Spurs still have to get by the Phoenix Suns.
As of today, Spurs were 20-3. I like the two sets of 10, keeps them honest.

Welcome to mylot. May you enjoy your membership here and have as much as I do.
You are correct. Mav and Spurs battle it our every year.
On the other hand, we still have Manu, Tony and Tim with the new additions. They have learned something early this season, they are playing the way Pop coaches. Their transition time frame was decreased dramatically. We will definitely give the Mavs a run for your money.
