Hey MyLotters what would you do if your boss just suddenly up and cancells the annual Christmas Party this year? My boss just cancelled our annual christmas party, and took back the money budgeted for this party. Every one is so disappointed. Do you think he is the Grinch or is there something else going on?

I suppose I too would be disappointed to say the least. However you do not list as to why he canceled it as perhaps there is a legitimate reason, one perhaps that will not replace the disappointment but a bit easier to digest.
Overall I would say yes he is the Grinch as while being employed and a party was planned to cancel for whichever reason I suppose it is considered right there equaled to the Grinch. Maybe canceling but replacing with a day off or half a day would have eased the disappointment a bit.

A day off would be nice but that too will not happen. You see he is a new boss in the division for the past 4 years. It used to be that the office would be closed early on Christmas Eve so that we could go be with our families and catch up on some last minute shopping. A soon as he assumed the position four years ago he stopped that. So now everyone has to stay at work until 5 o'clock the end of the work day and go home at night. When most of the stores are closed or there is hardly anything left in them to buy.
So you see even though a day off does sound reasonable I would'nt even entertain it. Personally I think he is a very unhappy person, very sad.

I am not sure why he did it, see that's the thing right, he did not say a word to the staff. I should say all the other divisions are experiencing the same fate. I think I will need to do a little investigating this week and let you know. I understand the recession is still affecting us but he really should say this to the staff dont you think? I mean we would understant.
