There is one ATM center down the lane from my street ... almost deserted still a bit safer!
I take this lane each and every time as this is the nearest ATM in and around my hood.
I was there this morning to withdraw some money...one old man popped out of nowhere ... handed his debit card and asked me to with draw money for him
I inserted his card and helped him until the machine asked for the password ...
Me : .... "you can type in the password and collect your money"
and i was about to leave!
Instead of typing his pwd on the key pad ... he calls me back and reveals it to me!
Me : How come you reveal your password to a stranger that easily? "Are you nuts?"
He laughed at me recklessly and said thats fine kid .... and then i typed in the password and good that he had enough energy levels to collect his money huuuuuuh
As of your question ... Can you believe someone that easily as this old man did that too if there's one ATM located in such a deserted place?
As of me i can never hand over my card to strangers revealing the password would be the least ... coz i'm skeptical you know

I know someone who has done that, I could never understand someone who would give there ATM password or pin to anyone let alone a totally stranger its just not smart or safe. I wouldn't even give that information to a friend because no matter how much you think you know a person or how trustworthy they seem you just never know what a person is capable of thats why its always better to be safe then sorry.

Yes its never a good idea to trust every and anyone with such valuable personal info, people are not always as they seem and they could go back and steal your founds or anything so I never give out that sort of info especially not to someone I just met on the street goodness no.

Hi apples
Money is something which can change ones mind...there is no guarantee that your friend would spare you if he notices some money in your bank! That's why i would never ask for others password and neither would i reveal it to anyone!

Hi kiddo ... do you have it tattooed on your forehead somewhere... trustworthy person with ATM and credit cards? Check it up....
I for one would never...
Having said that... I think he knew there was not much in his account...You see, he's seen you, he knows you withdrew the money before him, and if you take a small amount ... you'd spend the rest of your life in prison for that small amount... it is a different issue if the debit card is lost, it becomes difficult to trace the person... here anybody could have been trusted... so stop getting those ego airs...

Seems crazy to me for him to have trusted a total stranger like that but then, there's no accounting for some folk. If he had a problem in using the ATM then he could have gone into the bank and got the bank staff to assist him I would have thought.

Banks in here remain closed until 10 AM ... and for those poor bankers "sunday is a holiday".
He seemed crazy to me as well ... when he laughed recklessly!

I know you are skeptical, specially where there is money involved...as well as passwords.
Wouldn't have mind if you had been that old man and had given me the username and password of your paypal account. I would have kept it very safe for you.

Two passport size photos ..... Address proof ..... Educational Certificates xerox
Dont you go nuts thinking over if you were asked for all those to apply a passport
... if still you couldn't find it "applying for my trust"

My first thought and question to you is that are you sure that the old man did not steal this card from someone and now has you punching in the password with your face facing the camera, as I can't understand how anyone would be that defenseless and entrust their card and money to an absolute stranger??
Sorry I think negatively as I hear it all every day. I have seen where even the elderly are capable of such even worse crimes. hmmm.....

May be but the camera should have recorded that old man handing over the card to me right ... lets think it your way
Say he stole that card from someone ... i dont think he picked this card this morning coz "i was in the ATM at 6:30 this morning"
Let us assume he stole it yesterday ... dont you think the one who lost his card would have lodged a complaint with the help-desk ... had it blocked?
you're right actually,we can never trust anyone these days...old ones are quiet capable of doing anything .... i would be on my toes to handle such kinda folks too

I'm so sorry to know that
For someone who is good they can never go beyond their principles no matter what the scenario is unlike the bad ones who lack self-respect and can be so meaner that they least care about the impact which is going to be on the others

I was just watching earlier a true cop story where this 79 year old woman stole a mini van and was being chased by the cops and as she got out of the car she could barely get out on her own. She pleaded.. Oh my God, repetitively and all I could think of what in the world was she thinking of when she stole the car in the first place.
You are right about having reported it, but sometimes people do not notice they are missing their debit cards until the next time they need them.
I am just saying be cautious as not everyone is truly bad, I just have seen so many things in my own life, which by the way is one of the reasons why I am unemployed as who would have thought my so nice dear boss that I worked for so many years would have robbed the business blind causing me and many others to loose our jobs, which I worked with this person for 19 years of my life and none of us received unemployment either even after dedicating so much of my life to a company.

One possibility: He's old and is not that familiar with machines and he thinks that you're a trusted person, which explains why he revealed his password to you. Still, I think he shouldn't have done that, nowadays, there are a lot of criminals around and if he does the same thing, then...you know what'll happen.

hello sunny,
I was thinking also why..why he trusted you easily the pincode of his ATM card.
You might look very trusted or the old man just trusted his intuition.
If the machine has a camera, then, you will never think of stealing his card since the camera is there to record everything,
that might be one good reason for the old man to trust in you...(since there's a witness for whatever might happen)
Secondly,it's ok to reveal the pincode to you since you will not be holding his ATM card till that time,so,even if you will know his pincode you can never withdraw his money without the card.
Whatever the old man's reason is...good thing he met you, what if he met someone else's that will took advantage of everything.
Good job...
have a great day

Hiya sunny,
Could be and I know this sounds a bit nutty it could be that he trusted you and needed you to help him. He could have left his Glasses at Home and needed to take the money out there and then.
He did´nt ask you out right help me out will you but giving the password to you for you to type in I think that he could not have thought of anything else in that moment. Perhaps on another occasion he would not do that sort of thing anyway.
However if he does he should be very careful as to whom he give it to. I would never do this at all but sometimes circumstances push us into awkward situations and maybe he had to ask you for help in his own way.
It´s true that elderly People can do bad things but then it´s also true that can happen at any age.
Good Job he had you around to help him.

Hi angel,
He might have forgotten his specs at home but again trusting a stranger is absolutely stupid too which might have landed him up in bigger trouble he cannot cope up with.
Dont you think he was lucky to have me in there on that day lol
How are you doing? Its been so long since we exchanged few comments right ?

Well I really would not be willing to handle my card to a stranger and reveal my password to them too. Instead I would just go to the bank and ask the staff to help me. I happened to help an old couple to few months back but the husband were the one who keyed in the password before I entered the amount of money they wanted and I walked away while they were waiting for the money to come out. Thank you for sharing and have a nice day

Yeah people should be careful when revealing their passwords if they aren't sure as how one can operate the machine by the least

I suppose he figured that if you were to steal his card and money he can easily have it cancelled, and you reported to the police. It might be that he is a millionaire with a truckload of money and no need to worry!

If i were to steal his money ... all i need is a couple of minutes!Dont you think lodging a complaint with the police would take much longer.but again what on earth one would do with the card which is supposedly associated with an account with no money coz a thief would with draw all the money from the account immediately(cancelling it wouldn't help either).
A millionaire do not have to personally with draw money from an ATM which is located in a not-so happening place ... dont you think so?

Good morning dear mylloter friend sunnycool , hmm well after reading the whole story you've managed to make me laugh a little bit but still got me to think about this sweet and trustfull old man , i believe that once with age and generation , the old man did not really knew how it might work , and i also believe that we have had explained him before how this works , but he most of probably never applied the explaining method he was giving , or that we have explained and showed to the sweet old man , but he had simply did not understood the proces and said yes i understand , because he did not wanted to seem stupid or not wanted to bother no longer the person explaining to him .
As for him having that much confidence to give you he's password or pin code for he's credit card i am also believing that it was a little bit crazy and a little bit too confident , but maybe he really need it the money in cash , probably he had something really urgent to pay and could not pay it otherwise then cash , so i cann say that maybe desperate situationes ask for desperate measures.
Maybe that the old man looked first at the way your are dressed and maybe the way you talk , analyzed you a little bit and then decided that you are a honest and decent person , and decided to go for it and ask for your help , aniway it was nice from you to help him , most of the people would of taken advantage of him , and he was lucky to had find you there .
I wish you a verry great day dear friend.
Florin , Over and Out

You can't expect me to be that decently dressed at 6:30 in the morning...it was much worser coz i had to wake up forcibly only to withdraw money and you dont know how it would be to walk with a sleepy face...wearing pyjamas and T-shirt lol!
Some oldies find it hard to understand stuff may be this man was one of those.
