Hi guys... I just want to share what we have not witnessed inside the operating room... The record of operation done with Zayzay...

BILATERAL TONSILLECTOMY WITH LATERAL PHARYNGOPLASTY
Patient placed in supine position with neck hyperextended under general endotracheal anesthesia.
Asepsis, antisepsis and sterile draping done.
Dingmann mouth gag then carefully applied.
Intraoperative findings: grade 3 bilateral faucial tonsils.
Right anterior tonsillar pillar was infiltrated with a 1:100,000 solution of epinephrine & 2% lidocaine, after which it was incised using electrocautery.
Plane of dissection identified.
Right tonsil was dissected from its bed using electrocautery until fully delivered.
Hemostasis assured.
Same procedure was done on the Left tonsil.
The nasopharynx was visualized through a mirror, the adenoid was unremarkable without any sign of hyperplasia. No airway obstruction noted.
Washing done, Hemostasis assured.
Posterior right and left tonsillar pillars were sutured together with the anterior tonsillar pillar resulting in further widening of oral airway.
Dingmann mouth gag carefully withdrawn.
Specimen sent for examination.
Procedure was well tolerated.

All in all, the procedure was successful... And in just two days after the said surgery, Zayzay sleeps better with great improvement in his breathing, snoring is very minimal. He eats solid foods already even if the doctors said, not yet until he says so. But added, if Zayzay can tolerate the pain, then why not.
I have added a photo taken a day after the surgery.
And we greatly appreciate your kindness, you support and your prayers. Here's the song he sings for you all...

we refrain from giving him solid foods but he is really eager to have some. the doctor said, if he can tolerate the pain, let him be. but only give him wet and no fried until two weeks.

Hi neildc! I am so happy to hear that everything went so well
with Zayzay's operation. I do have one question, didn't the
take out his adenoids? They usually take them out when they
take the tonsils out, or at least they used to many years ago.
I'm not sure if that's something the still do anymore. I was
13 when I had mine out and that was very old way back when
I was a kid. Usually they were taken out when a child was around
5-6 years old! And I can't believe that Zayzay was able to sing!
I had a really bad sore throat and could barely talk! He is
so adorable. Thanks for shareing the video, it really made me
smile! I am so happy that he will now be able to sleep more
comfortably and so will you and your wife. I am so glad that
all our prayers were finally answered! Give him a kiss and hug
for me~Your friend, Opal

i have learned from the surgeon today, they decided not to take out the adenoids as they found out, it is not making obstruction to the airway. i kept asking about it during the pre-ops, and they told me, they will be removed tool. but during the said proceedings, there was no reason to do it. he also said, adenoids will not get enlarged and as zayzay grows older, it will remain and thus making the airway bigger.
zayzay really loves to sing. if you could just browse more of my youtube uploads, you can find more of zayzay singing and dancing. my wife also asked the doctor, will his voice change after the surgery? the doctor said, no. and the video thus proved it. lol

This is great news. I am so glad his surgery went well. Thanks for the updates and I wish you and your family all the best this holiday season and from now on. You did an awesome job advocating for Zayzay to get the medical attention he needed. It is interesting that you have this transcript of the surgery, and I will appreciate the video and the picture of your terrific little champion.

Hello,
Wow, the little fellow has bounced back incredibly well after having his tonsils removed. I hope the procedure was ok. I notice they had initially meant to repair the pharynx but they have not noticed anything unusual so they have left it.
I still cannot get over Zayzay's quick recovery...it's truly remarkable. Give him a hug from your friend Tickle.
Oh, that was a beautiful song he sang as well...such a big, loud voice considering his recent operation. He looks like he loves to sing!

hi Tickle. yes, our little angel has bounced back incredibly well. just a few days after the surgery, he already eats well and even asks for more milk than before. could be that his throat has more space now for food.
about the adenoids, we have told the doctors during the pre-ops, that our doctor from the province have also told us that it will be removed, as he saw it from the endoscope. but then yes, during last week's proceedings, they checked-up it back found no visible obstruction so they left it.
he really recovers so fast. and even the doctors were amazed.

oh neil, i just watched his short video at the hospital. he was so cute and strong and an embodiment of hope.
i also watched a couple of his videos in youtube where he was featured in a tv5 segment. i understood more of his condition and how much your family went through to find solutions. i'm sorry i wasn't active at the site during the height of those discussions and i didn't know you then. it's really different interacting just online and meeting online friends in person. up close and personal, people can really bond and share moments of just being there.
and the 3rd video was when i saw him singing "may bukas pa" like there really is still hope for tomorrow. this is when i really was in tears. he really looked and felt well-loved the way he sang with such feelings at a tender age.
wow...
i hope i can visit you in cebu at one point, or thru another mylot meet up. your travel back is fast approaching (or have you gone back already hehehe). let us know your schedule and keep us posted.
god bless always and take care of your lovely family. my regards to pat and a kiss for zay2x.

I have not responded to your discussions as of late, my health and my husbands and my mother in law seems to have all needed medical attention so have been running in circles!
BUT..I am VERY thrilled to learn ZayZay come through this operation I know its been a very long hard battle for the family. They always say children bounce back faster through surgeries and illnesses. So his wanting to eat says a lot!!!
He is a determined little man to get back to normal and the family should be so proud of him!
I wish him well and hope he will be home soon
Huggs to him and the family
Marie
