Would a ps3 work on a non HD tv?

I am planning to buy a ps3 but I do not know if it can work on a non HD tv. We only have a flat screen at home and I am not sure if it is HD. It looks HD to me. Anyone using a non HD tv for the psr3 please help. Thanks
