People have often said that they couldn't live in Seattle because of the amount of rainfall that occurs annually. The days can be cloudy and gloomy. San Diego on the other hand is sunny most of the year with pleasant temperature never year round.
I tend to enjoy the gloom. I am an upbeat lover of life. The one thing that helps me love the gloom is that though it may be gloomy, the sun never really ceases to shine. It's just obstructed by clouds. So you see, the sun always shines.

Oh, I can't stand gloomy days. They make me all gloomy and sad and zap the energy right out of me. Gloomy days, to me, are great for sitting in with the family and drinking some cocoa. The only time I really enjoy gloomy days is late in the evening if we get a thunderstorm that lights up the sky. My family has always enjoyed going out on the front porch and watching the storm and sharing those moments. :)
But, for me, I prefer the sunny days. I LOVE sunshowers, though, which I guess is a bit of both worlds? I mean, after all, you're never too old to play in the rain on a warm day!

I love a gloomy day. If it is in the form of cloudy day. I don't really like sun shine. In my country we get it all year long. Sometimes we really long for shade. The situation you described is nice. I love being there. Smoking and being there, that's heaven!
