Is there anything more to life?

I honestly don't believe there is more to life than just living. I don't see why or how there would be. I think the point of life is to basically do what you want. If you want to create a purpose for yourself like helping humanity or teaching children, that's up to the individual. But as far as some "higher power purpose", I don't think it exists. I enjoy my life doing what I want.

hello yumcookie! life is what we make it.. that's how i define life and as to our purpose here..well, it was somehow ingrained in me as a youngster that life here on earth is a preparation for the eternal life God meant for us to have in the future. How we behave and live our life in this world would be the basis if we will be allowed to live in that eternal place or in eternal damnation in hell. At present, i'm really not very religious and so i have kind of lost contact with these thoughts until your post reminded me of such. For me at present, life is meant to be lived the way we want to but in such a way that we will not only be happy but share happiness with other fellow human beings as well. Our mind, in itself can make a heaven of hell and a hell out of heaven. Thus, if we believe that there's more to life than just living, so be it. and if we believe that life is just like that, living our day to day activities, then so be it also. we are the ones who determine the purpose of our respective lives.

Very interesting discussion.I think that there is no definite and conclusive answer for this.As we never asked to be born and this life is kind of thrust into us we are always at a loss what to do with it.Well as we cannot be unborn again we can atleast earnestly fulfill our responsibilities to the people depending on us like our children and wife.We gave the life to our children.It is our responsibility to see that they have the good life here.That could be one of the reasons for us being born here.

I just don't think really much about why i am living,all over the world there's so many people wanna figure this out but still have no conclusion.So don't bother yourself so much.If you really wanna give yourself a reason and give values to your life,you must find it in god.In my opinion,atheist's life is meaningless.

Dear Yumcookie: My friend . I share the same confusion about what is the purpose of living .Do we just need survive or something like that ? Actually I was believing that life itself is a journey in which you acquaint with people from different background and different things happening everyday in your life .You need to go to school ,getting a job ,get married and then have your own baby to take care .Normally you promise to forget to ask yourself what's my purpose for living in such a planet . I was also thinking the same question as you are doing because I found that living is not an easy thing which is teeming with troubles and adversities .When you do not have a goal to shoot for or a purpose to persuade yourself ,it is hard to continue the experience . With the help of my friends and helpful teachers I think I've got my answer that we are living and doomed to finish a task actually . Servincing for all the humanity is our task . First ,you must purify your heart ,and then do something for the interests of people you love or those you have even no acquaintance . No matter who you are ,a student ,worker or a manager. If only you plant such a view in your heart,even God will help you to live in an earthly paradise.

I don't know... and we probably will never know, so, for me I'd rather choose one, because I can. When I feel like I don't have a purpose, I make that my purpose = finding a purpose... and when there is something interesting to go after, then that would be my purpose.

When you look at the positive side of life, you will certainly agree that life is worth living. Every person has come to this world with a purpose and that purpose is only known to that person. You must be able to know as to what is the purpose of your life, what you must be grateful for and what all you have to achieve in this life which god has given you. Then you will certainly come out of such feelings that life is more than a need to survive.

I think life exits till you keep living. People live for many reasons in this world, someone love his/her parents, wife or children and want to love for them. One can live for getting a good status in the professional, personal or in married life. One can have a dream of becoming the prime minister and other can live with a dream to get a wonderful job. People watch dreams every time, they have some hopes and expectations and they live for them. I think you also have some reasons to live that is why you are living..lol. It is true. I have my own reasons, I want to prove myself in some fields of my life, which I can't explain in details here.
