Me and my sister are contemplating going to Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) - pretty much "Sin City" this summer and I'm wondering.. if anyone has experiences they would like to share, any advice, any tips, any recommedations. I am truly lost as far as which hotels to book, which casinos to go to, what kind of entertainment to pursue, and especially.. how much money to bring! I would like to start saving up. How much spending do you think we'd need for a vacation in Vegas, excluding hotel/airfare/gas/car rental/etc? Have you ever been to Vegas? ANY information you can give me would be EXTREMELY APPRECIATED!!!

I have been to Vegas twice, once with kids and once without. As far as hotels go, it depends on what kind of experience you are looking for--if you want to stay right on the Strip, then the hotels at the middle to end of the Strip are glitzier (and safer). MGM, Caesar's, Luxor, Venetian, Paris, and especially Bellagio and Mandalay Bay are more for grown-ups, and have casinos in them. Excalibur, NY NY, Mirage, Treaure Island, and Circus Circus on the North end have more to do for kids (and adults who are kids at heart). There are also lots of hotels on the Strip that have smaller casinos or no casinos that may be cheaper, as well as several right off the Strip that are within walking distance to at least part of the Strip that may also have better deals. The Strip is the main tourist venue, but there are plenty of others, depending on what you are looking for and how long you are staying. You can see shows, go to clubs, eat at buffets and upscale restaurants, go to concerts, etc. The Fremont St. Experience is a section of Vegas that houses the older casinos but is worth visiting--they have a great covered-ceiling light show. And there are lots of day trips or 1/2-day trips you can take from Vegas, too, either by renting a car or taking a tour, such as Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, and more--just depends on how much gambling you are going to do!

You have been totally and 100% helpful. Thanks so much for your response. The MGM's looking good. I am going with my sister, we would also like to do things besides just gamble - such as sight-see, hit the beach (if there is one) and so on. lol.

I was just there not two weeks ago! Try to book online. There's a lot of cheap deals online which includes a lot of extras! We paid for less than $500 for a 4-day, 3-nights stay which included hotel and air fare. As extras, we had free shuttle to one of the bigger hotels along the strip. And half price off to one Cirque du Soleil show and a Hoover damn tour. Don't buy ticket shows online though. Buy them when you get there. Along the strip there are booths called Half-Price Tix which sell discounted prices to shows and buffets.

I have never been but would like to go. I would recommend that if you get to go you stay at the Bellagio and that you see one of the Cirque Soliel Shows. I seen one a couple of years ago when my husband got tickets for our anniversary and I was thrilled with it and they say the ones in Vegas are better.

Ok, I live here so here goes. When you're here, to save money, you can stay in hotel in downtown which is about 10 minutes from the strip and you can take the bus to the strip, there is a bus that cost $2 that drives all day from the strip to downtown or take the cab but you can save up to $200 a night from hotel expenses. Hotels are as cheap as $39 a night at the Golden Spike or other next to them. They are all attached. this is the best saving tips I can give out. Or when you want to stay on the strip, stay at the Orleans, Terrible, Excalibur, or Tropicana for lesser rate, still beautiful rooms, right on the strips, stay away from All MGM or Venetian, costly. eat buffet for $20 a person, all you can eat, great deal, avoid fine dining, expensive, cost up to $100 per person. bring snacks with you cuz water is $4 a bottle in the hotel. Bring comfortable shoes because you will walking and jackets in the winter cuz it's freaking cold here. Bring about $3000 and it's enough to have a wonderful trip for two. You don't need to spend a lot here since drinks are free if you play and don't gamble, if you're smart, you will lose everything. Never gamble, in this recession, you will lose big time. There are plenty of free show and entertainment.

I have been to Vegas. The best is to get a cheap hotel so you can use your money on other attractions. I advise going to different shows like Cirque du Solei or the Blue Man shows, but they can be pricey. I think the hotel/motel Tropicana was pretty cheap but decent. Some hotels, you get discounts to get into their clubs.. you may want to consider that if you plan to go clubbing because the lines get really long and you may not be able to get in! The dress code is pretty strict for the clubs too.

I've visited a few cities in the USA but I've never been to Vegas. I do hope to go there someday though. I do think that you should take as much money as you can to Vegas. People say that it is very easy to spend money there and at the end of the day you don't even realise that you have spent so much money!

can't say i've been there, nor that i'm planning to, at least not in the near future. it requires tons of money, and that's maybe just the hotel.. besides, there's nothing really for me there, apart from the clubs, which i can easily find in my town too. people go there to gamble usually, and that's definetely not my thing ^^' anyway, i'm sure apart from those things, vegas is an amazing place to visit.. just not for everyone. for hotels, car rentals and everything, you can always check guides on the internet, that can give you step by step instructions.

I've been to Vegas many of many of times. Depending on when you're going you're going to want to plan. In the winter time it gets pretty cold and in the summer it is extremely hot and dry. You're going to need to get a decent amount of money saved up. I'm guessing at random maybe five grand. Two grand for airplane ticket, one grand for hotel, five hundred for car and gas and the rest to have fun and eat! (I'm guessing this at about a week or so budget.) You might want to save extra if you can, Vegas can be pretty expensive.

I've never been to Vegas but I saw it in movies. Vegas is not the best place to visit (in my opinion) because I think every thing there is based on jumbling
