Keylogger: Legal or Illegal ?

I think almost the people who have the interest in internet may know about keyloggers very well; For unknown, please refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keylogger Now please share your thoughts about keyloggers.
What you think about it? Whethere it is legal or illegal? Does it against others privacy ?
Please note: Here keylogging in your own system is considered. Using it other systems, is strictly crime.

u want our opinion that its legal or not i think that doesn't matter.its illegal if used for bad purpose.

in my view , if anyone is using keylogger in his own system then, maybe to gain information about other person who also uses the same system. i don't think anybody is foolish enough to have keylogger installed to monitor its own keystrokes. breaching somebody else privacy is illegal whether the system is your own or not

This is strictly illegal , in fact .. someone who does that probably want to know more about someone without going the front door. They want to appear discreet and anonymous so they go through the back door. No style at all. Cyber crime like this says a lot about the persons behind it.

Definitely keylogging is illegal if done with a wrong intention or with out the approval of the owner of the computer.. some people have been using this method to get passwords. when using it on your own computer ..it could be for the protection or for monitoring others using the PC.

many companies use keyloggers on company computers to spy their employees and it's nothing illegal because they own the computers. If somebody install an keylogger on your personal computer is illegal, I think is illegal in all countries

A keylogger is a form of spyware that is designed to register usernames and passwords and to send them to a remote computer so that the criminal behind the attack can access your secure websites for criminal reasons. In a few words, this is illegal anywhere in the world. Or should be.

Using keylogger on your own system ccan't be illegal as you can use it to keep an eye on your children,what they do in your absence.
yes it is like spyware but if you embed it in email and send it to someone else without their knowledge then it can be illegal according to your country law.
