How does the artists nowadays make money now when almost everything can be downloaded in the internet for free nowadays. even books for example, they can be downloaded off the internet. songs and movies can also be downloaded.. is the industry really suffering as they claim when someone downloads off the internet, or because of piracy. the government is also cracking up on those who does this.

I think that most of them make money with concerts because the ones that download their songs are the same that go to their concerts. On the other hand, nowadays the artists are much more than simple artists. They are models, they make publicity, start their one business... It's just not only a question of being good in what they do, it's also a question of being smart and take the opportunities that the success gives them!

I think they make the money from the publishers or the producers. Artists don't have to worry about it it is the producer of the product who is going to get the profit or the loss.
Generally an artist have his fixed price and they got paid for this amount from the producer, now the producer launches the product and whatever comes next is all for the producer. Artist get the fame if the product is hit. It helps them to get the next contract. I hope you get my point.
