How often do you change your cell phone? Yesterday I just meet a friend of mine, when we having lunch together, there are phone ringing for long time and no one pick up the phone. I was wonder, who's cell phone is ringing and did not want to pick up the call. While I was trying to figure out where the ringing came from, my this friend trying to reach his pocket and took out a new cell phone and answered the call. Later I asked him why he did not pick up the call earlier, he told me that because he did not remember that ringing tone is from his new cell phone. Just because he change his cell phone very often, and that make him cannot recognized that it is his phone that ringing. He change his cell phone almost every 3 to 4 months once.
For me, I think that is kind of waste, but for him, he like new gadget and that is why when ever there are new cell phone model came out, he will change it and get the new model.
Do you do the same? How often did your change your cell phone?

Hi Lore2009,
Yes, I think is because he earn quite a lot, so he doesn't mind to spend on the gadgets. If think he like the phone, he will just buy it. I think most of the people will use their phone until not usable or spoiled and only those people who are rich and mostly the teenager will like to buy the latest model to showoff to their friends.

You both are the same type like me, I too do not simply change my cellphone for no other reason then it spoiled. I do not think it is worth it to change cellphone so frequent although there are new model with new function coming out now and then. Those function for me are something extra and I seldom or can consider that I do not need that.

well it really depends. for me as long as my phone is still reliable i dont change it. but when i think of it i change my phone once every one to two years but now i havnt thought of it because my phone is still reliable and the features it has still fits my needs. for me i dont really change my phone everytime there comes a new model, i just want a phone that hasnt been very left behind because its too costly to buy every model that comes out and i think cellphone makers has the idea to make better cellphone technology that has all the complete features, they just dont make one because they need to release it one step at a time to earn more profit.

Yes, I think you are the rational type where you do not simply spend money just to get the new gadget. Phone maker will always have the strategy to get the money from the consumer's pocket, that is why like what you said, they will release one function to another function one by one so that people will buy them again and again with newer model. But the trick just did not work on me.

A very good day to you Yspmyl,
With reference to your main topic, I can say that previously, I am changing my cellphone every year. Since this is my only way of rewarding myself after 11 months of work. I wont buy any electronic gadget for myself except for a new cellphone before the year ends, that is why, I see to it that I will change my unit every year. However, that habit was just a bit temporary. I just did the changing for less than five (5) years. And I can say that during that time, I will never discredit my attitude of being impulsive, hence, I guess that is a part of life.
Nevertheless, I have change that habit now since, I need to save a lot. And not only that, I came to a point that cellphones are almost the same. You just need to know what suits your needs.
And with regard to your friend, maybe he is still enjoying the looks a new unit and aside from that, perhaps, he is just giving himself a reward.
As long as you know how to save at least a single penny in your wallet, it is fine to treat yourself sometimes.
Have a nice day.

Hi! Good day!
Yes, you are probably right! I too think that my friend is rewarding himself since he earn quite a lot.
I cannot imagine that if I were to change my cellphone every years, I do not think that is worth it and for me all cellphone are more or less the same like what you said. The main function is just to receive call and reply call. The rest of the function just for entertainment purposes and are not that important.

Hi ,
I just read this and so here it goes.
I change my phone when I need to upgrade or if It gets broken . my aversge time is about once per year because I am a heavy cell phone user . When one gets too old I just go out and buy a new one at my local shop or something , only when I have enough money . I usaly get a new one at the end of the year .

Handphone is something I can't without! I personally tried many. I started with nokia when I was young. Use it for 2 years before I changed to sony. Sony was great for its juke box and sound. Hands down. I changed to samsung omnia after 3 years which was my first touch screen. Used for a year and noticed touch screen sux. Now, I use blackberry bold which I am loving it sooooo much. Suits my daily needs. Indeed a good choice I would say...

I think your friend really change his phone too fast. The cellphone companies don't even change their models that fast! I think he's got some problems in there in choosing the right phone for him.
I change my phone every two years. Every two years I get a new one without giving up my old phone so i still keep them. However, I get them for free as a loyalty reward to a network that I'm subscribed to, so that doesn't hurt my pocket at all.

Yeah, I am thinking like that too, he probably change his cellphone too fast and is even faster than the cellphone manufacturer, he seem like when he doesn't like the cellphone, he will change it. I think for a normal person, a phone can probably will last for at least one or two years until it spoiled.
