How did Bumblebee lost his speech?

Autobot Bumblebee - He is one of the Autobot Soldiers who help fight their enemies, the Decepticons.

I just watched the Transformers 1 today. I didn't learn before that he cannot speak verbally. He just uses radio to communicate. Is there a reason behind his situation? He is my favorite autobot. I'm just curious (as always). :"

in Transformers movie 1, according to ratchet, Bumblebee loss his voice box in a battle with the decepticon in cybertron. In transformers movie 2, I don't know how he loss his voice again since he can already speak at the end of movie 1

Remember from the movie Transformers 1? I think Rachet said that bumblebee's voice box was damaged before he even reached earth...
