Now, I do not believe that a cell phone is at all necessary for small kids, but I do not agree with your argument that it damages the body. If anything, it might just cause RSI through overly much texting, but I dont think that will happen with cell phones anytime sooner then with gaming consoles and the like, and even with them, it doesnt happen all that often. Another urban myth would be that the cell phones emit waves that harm people, but that, too is untrue. Several researchers have calculated that the waves of a mobile phone, if they would send them out at full power all the time (this doesnt happen, the amount of waves is in fact, extremely low), it would take several hours just to boil an egg in between two mobile phones. If you compare that to the amount of heat you get on your head due to the sun, lamps and the like, it is nothing. Nevertheless, i do not think that little kids need cell phones, since in general, they dont go far from a nearby adult usually. Of course, it is fun for them, but to say that it is necessary would be overstating that need.

Damaging body parts? I must have lived under a rock. Where did you hear that? I believe that kids under 12 shouldn't get a cell phone. I mean what's the point? It's not like they travel in their own or something.
