Lately, our maid is having white knuckle moments for the reason that no one ever wanted to talk to her. When the masters leave for work, only me and her cross ways within the house. Our room is at the second floor and to walk on her shoes it must be scary for her to be alone at the ground floor. The only thing that bothers me is no matter how much I try to have a conversation with her, I sense a funny blankness that keeps me from talking with her. In other words, I don't know which to talk about. So here I ask you guys, what and how should I talk with a maid? I'd be thankful for responses.

she laughed when i told her to 'don't do this because they will hate it' then she replied 'really okay'. i just have to figure out her comfort zone's shape then from there never worry at all on what to say.

It's o.k. to talk to your miad just find out her interest, what food they like, how was it in school for them and what they do on days off. Also how's the family also give them a gift sometimes.

Maid is almost part of our family.Without them,no one will prepare our meals everyday. No one will clean our everyday. So we have to treat them like part of the family. With your concern, actually it all depends on how close are you with the maid.and how much information you know about her.just in case you do not have enough idea about her,you can probably ask for educational background.in a way that she won't be shy to answer your question.you can also ask why did she choose this job?i think those are the possible questions that you can ask her for you to have an open conversation to your maid.i hope this will help you.happy mylotting!

Greetings :)
I have a maid at home which I had for more than a year already. I do talk to her pretty much everyday. The idea is to talk about something general. A good example is like the weather. You could say like "it has been so hot lately". Build a question from there. Ask how she feels about the weather. That should lighten up the situation. The is trick is not to do this too often since some maids tend to be abusive.
I hope I helped a bit. Have a nice day :)

Since you are from Philippines, your maid is probably from the province. Ask her about her hometown, what can be found there, and things they do there. About fiesta, vacation, tourist spots, schools etc..
