I found that with my grandmother. She was like a mother to me and took care of me soon after mother moved back home after a divorce when I was about six months old. She was a Baptist and very strict. I couldn't dance or play cards. Anything very feminine or trendy was frowned upon. I respected her whole heartedly.

I do come a cross one person whom I resepct more than my parents because we mutually resepcted each other as collegue and friend. Respect, I come to realise is a reciprical gesture and one side affair. I respect my parents for who they are to me and sometimes it seems obligatory than on mutuality.

My children!! In order for me to have earned theirs I have given it to them first. See children do not come with instruction manuals and we as parents are the molds.
So not respecting our children, one cannot expect it back.

Well its a grate topic because by answering to this I want to give an tribute to my Maya (3D application) teacher Mr. Idris Azad who is the one and only person whom I gave the respect equal to which I give to my Father.
In Pakistan its very hard to find an 3D Max or Maya 3D Teacher. But you can find plenty of those teachers who have just ordinary 3d knowledge. I was looking for Best Teacher who can teach me what I was looking for. I searched so many Institute's and went in took so many orientation classes and I found nothing.
So one day when I went same kind of Orientation which was basically for enrollment for the 3D diploma certification students. The man whom I admire most now was standing in front of all young boys and girls and was trying his best to motivate them to enroll in his class. He pointed the finger towards me and asked me to introduce myself and tell me why I am here ?
My reply for him and for all of the people who were sitting there was shocking because I sad, "I am the person who wherever goes try his level best to make Teacher to run away from the class. So I am here for the same. What I found till now, is no one who can teach 3D in the proper way. All teachers whom I met till now are those who have the basic knowledge about 3D nothing more. So get ready because I am here to make you run too.
I never forget his reply which was, "Well til today you was the one who was after teacher's now you Found me who has the power to make you run. So tighten your seat belt now because my Name is Idris Azad. I think you dont know the meaning of Idris ? Idris meanings are "Person who is Teacher by birth". I also think you dont know the meaning of Azad, "Person who born to be free". NOw tell me what is your name ? I replied my Name is Aurang Zeb Alamgir, and this is the name of the Last Powerful Muslim Emperor of the India.
After that we both just gave a smile to each other but this was the day when I met an such grat teacher who is till today guiding me and I always ask him for help in my any 3D project.
I love him and I admire him the most from my heart.

I never have gotten respect form my parents! I never respected them! So why would I respect them! The closest I am to totally respecting someone is my friend Mark. I have know him 17 years and he is my best friend. I can talk to him about just about anything. He also has helped me out with alot things over the years!. This is why I respect him!

I actually tend to think that the world would be a very sad place if the only people that we were able to wholeheartedly respect were our parents. You see, I grew up part of a very large extended family and I have the same kind of respect for my aunts and uncles as I have for my parents. In addition to that, I also always respected my grandparents when they were alive. Now that I'm married I fully respect my husband and also his family. I think that it is important to have respect.

hi doctorDidi,
yes i have, i guess i know what your thinking, we do respect a lot of people except from our parents., but its quiet different to feel so much respect and with a person, it seems that the person you respect is more than your parents well maybe that person had a very big contribution in your life...

I have three people; my three best friends, one of them to whom I'm lucky enough to be married. :)
I respect these people because we can all accept eachother for who we are, and if something goes wrong, or one of us makes a mistake, we can be honest with the others, and not hurt anyone's feelings.
As for my parents, I have some respect for both of them, but one in particular, not much. I won't go into details of my private life on here, but suffice it to say, I learned in my teens that they are humans too, and that respect needs to be earned by deeds, and is not guarenteed just because they are my parents. That's not to say I don't love the person, and I have a different kind of respect for the other parent, but not the kind of respect that one would imagine when hey imagine respect for one's parent.

In school, there were a couple of teachers that were worthy of my respect. They really went that extra mile to help students learn and understand. Also grandparents are always worthy of my respect, due to the fact they've been through a lot and they have come out strong, despite their advanced age. Respect is something that is earned and when people earn it, it means they are really worthy of it.

Yes! There are two guys I truly respect.
Mr Ron Shashi
He is my ex-company trainer. He is a born motivator and whenever I am down, he is there to bring me up. He taught me to go for it and the sky is the limit.
Mr Roy Abraham
He is my ex-boss. He is a great man with big vision. He told me all about live and how I can make it to be successful. He taught me to give chance to others even though it could be the hardest thing of all.
