The Alpha Phi Omega is staging the annual Great Oblation Run tomorrow at Palma Hall, noontime. In case the passersby get shocked, the whole purpose of the naked run is to attract attention about the issues that are besetting the land. And the best way to get that attention, these frat boys believe, is to run stark bare.... See ya!

Hi syoti20. Palma Hall is a building in the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. Only students who come from UP are aware of this. Hey eileen, the question in your info is incomplete :D

Oh it's that time of the year already! I remember witnessing my first and only oblation run (it was back in 2001). It was about lunch time and my physics class just ended. I could remember shrieks as the guys passed by. I was unaware that they were going to cross that certain area where I was passing by. Oh well, there is always a first for everything I guess :D

Is that a naughty grin flashing on your UPian face? Remembering the good memories huh!

Ha ha! I am only half UPian, but I get your point :D (*grin*) I wasn't even inside the barrier. I just stepped aside for them to pass. It is just my first and only experience. I was a sophomore then. I missed it during my freshman year because I was in the province.

Hi, Eileen! I hope it's a lot warmer there than it is here. I've lived in Miami all my life, but I don't remember ever being this cold! I might not leave the house at all! And I bundle up as well as I can!

It's on you-tube, take a look. It's foolish but it's well, tradition. Keep warm.

Disturbing? It seems more like America doesn't know what it is missing.

Wow, that is really interesting that they think that the best way to draw attention to the problems of your area is to run naked. I know that in the United States running around naked is something that isn't socially acceptible. In fact, my father nearly got arrested when he was in college for being a streaker. That said, I hope that they were able to accomplish their goals for the year with their Oblation Run.

The APO does get away with it. The older frat bros had been occupying seats in the two legislative bodies. So long as the runners do not ply the public streets, there is no case of indecent exposure. The run is confined inside the Palma Hall, but the runners get out of the main door and pose the UP Oblation image right at the steps of the Hall, under the noonday sun and in full view of all the coeds and guests. See you tube for a peek.

yeah, they do this every year. They do this to catch the attention of people about the problem of the country. This is a nice way to get attention huh. Hehehe. I think it is part of their tradition. Nice APO....

I believe this is the frat's initiation rites.
