i have always wanted to run my own business. please let me know what u think about it. if i ever ran my own business i would probably have a place in a mall. it would be like a hang out spot for teens and adults where u can play nintendo games for free, arcade games, use free internet, play pool, play air hokey, play fooseball for free, watch dvd movies for free, order food and non-alcoholic drinks (since it would be for teens aswell as adults), it would be a really cool place to hang out, to make sure no one runs off with any of my stuff that i own i would make them give me a collateral for all of those things that i just mentioned about above except for the food/drinks, free internet, and the arcade games. everyone would have to sign in and sign out before they enter and before they leave. and i would have security cameras up and running at all times. that sounds like a pretty good business to run dont u think?

Yes, you seems to have a good eye on what will work. Although I heard and observe that the most important factor would be Location, location, location. Finding this would be a sort of goldmine since where people usually passes by would generate interest with all that you have mention. And also the availability of funds should be considered as well like overhead operating expenses. And also take note of promoting your business like distributing flyers, having posters that catches the eye and promoting it on websites too.

Yeah, I don't think the mall would be a good idea. Kids hanging around wouldn't go over very well with other businesses. But a place like this is needed to keep kids out of trouble. I think it needs a stand-alone location.

u might not agree with me about that patgalca, but to me i think the mall would be the perfect place for having that kind of business.. it would be a safe, friendly, entertaining place in a good location. it would be a place to keep kids out of trouble that is the exact point of me running that business and a place for them to hang out and be entertained. one reason why the mall would be a good place for it is there r always alot of kids that like to go to the mall. i dont find anything wrong with it. i think it would be great.

This sounds like a great idea for a business...I don't wanna put a downer on your plans but I just don't think that selling food & drink would cover the costs of running the place...I would suggest selling memberships or have a small entry fee to help cover the costs as there would be alot of people - especially teens that don't have much money that would drop in to hang out but not buy anything. Good luck in your goals of achieving your dream.

honestly, it sounds expensive, pretty interesting, but very expensive to start up and keep secure.

Personally I would not like all the noise. But it sounds like fun for the teenagers. How would you earn any money if everything is free?

Hi Life, It actually does sound like a pretty cool business. You should have a rule that they have to buy something in order to use the games etc so that you don't have a bunch of them hanging out and taking up space. Would you really be able to offer all those things for free? I know that it is not cheap to rent a place for a business and then you have all your overhead costs as well as the cost of the games and internet, computers and the upkeep of them all. I would think a small fee or a cover charge to get in would be fair. It's a great idea though...hope your dream comes true!

It sounds like a good business, but how do you think it's going to pay the bills? You mentioned that everyone plays games for free--is there a membership fee to join? Paying for food and drinks won't cover the cost for rent, electricity or security costs. I think you're going to have to rethink things a bit is all.

You must be well off. The start up costs for what you propose would be huge. The rent in a mall will be huge. Overheads will be huge. Your equipment will need to be updated all the timer so you always have the latest gear. If you are doing all this for free, how will you pay for it all. Also, trust me, you don't want food and equipment around this type of equipment. You would have to separate the two entities. I really don't see how this would work, sorry.

If I were young, I would like to go there because you offer so many cool stuff that is free of charge. But I am a little worried how much money you can earn since the things you provide are free. The renting will already costs a lot. And you have to hire the people. This will be a big amount. I love China

I hope u get to do this. There are pro & cons to owning your own buisness but i think the pros outweigh the cons in doing so. I liked being my own boss even tho it did require alot of hard work. GOOD LUCK!

Self employed is a 24/7 365 days a year business. All these things you are planning on letting kids use cost a lot of money and there is up keep and so forth. I think it is a great endeavor. If all of this is free you are going to have to have alot of funding from the community or somewhere. Have you thought about where you will get this funding?

Sounds like a great idea, but where is your profit coming from, just the sales of food?

It is a good idea to put up your own business. You have to start with a small business then later on you will have big business and be sucessful. There will be lots of experiences. You will gain and loss money. You will have partners that you will have to trust and help you in your business.

That's a lot of things for free. You might want to consider people paying an annual (or monthly) membership fee. When you said 'sign in and sign out' it sounded like the gym my husband goes to. A membership fee makes sense. There was a business for sale in my town and my husband and I both dreamed of turning it into a coffee shop (the kitchen counter was right at the entrance of the restaurant), book store and in the basement an internet cafe. We just couldn't do it though. Good luck.

hi lifeafterdeath wow I think thats really a very neat idea and it would give teens and young adults a great place to go after school that was just for them but was a place even their parents would approve of.I think that really would work. YOu may need to get a partner at first and at least talk to the small business association for helpful ideas and directions on how to start a business. so many towns and ciies do not have a really great place for teens to hang out that parents would approve of.hope you can really get it started as it sounds like a great idea.

sounds pretty good to me. now if you can just get some sponsors or some backers, or investors to help. unless you have4 that kind of money. of course you never know, guess you could start out small. even then will cost money and depending on where you live possibley a liscense

Ya, I think you can run your own business as you said. But, for a credit to you, I tell you that, make sure that is that business is enough for your survival? Think twice about the business. Gather a permanent income from a job then you can concentrate on your business side by side.

It's a good business. But if you'll gonna have it for free, how will you generate income to support your business? There's a same business here in our mall and anyone who wants to play will have to buy tokens to be able to use the machines.

I'm am saying in general here. So it depends on you. To run a business successfully, you have to need a little skill and experience in it. Do you know how it works? With such, you will not be cheated by others. Also, prepare a fun of 3 months just to make sure the first 3 months run smooth. We all know that first 3 months are always the hardest! Good luck!
