'Pending' means that they are assessing your PC and its capabilities. There isn't a great deal you can do to help to make your status active except to make sure that your PC is on and connected to the Internet for as long as possible each day.
GomezPeer is a 'background' program and is most suitable for PCs which are on for a a great part of the day but, maybe, not used for much of that time. They state that they need as wide a range of PCs as possible, using cable, DSL or dial-up and in as many different parts of the world as possible. Most of the work, apparently, involves testing websites (the Peer uses your PC to 'visit' websites without opening them in your browser).
Really, you just have to be patient until they have assessed your connection and choose to make you active. Some people have to wait months, others just a day or so. I was lucky - it took, I think, three days and I am now earning between 3 and 10 cents a day.
