why do you have a cellphone? is it because you need it or you want it? well, nowadays
...cellphone would really be a necessity.........it becomes a luxury if the price is too much because you go over the aesthetic value that it can give you over the functionality it can give...........
do you agree?

I use to think the same way until I got a smart phone and started using it to make my business dealings easier. For the average person though I agree it can be a luxury that not everyone needs.

At this point in my life a cell phone is a necessity for my daily life. Its my main line of communication with my Wife and family, I manage a friends music career booking shows, dealing with merchandise vendors, etc. And I run a web design firm which is my true love when it comes to work. So I need to be constantly be available to many different people. Not only that but by both me and my wife having a phone we can be in contact with each other at all times, where as with the land we could only get a hold of each other if we were home.
Not to mention with my smart phone I can carry all my contacts with me, check my email, check the status of sites Ive worked on, etc. Having a cell phone allows me to feel more connected to my family, my business, and to my Derek King's music career. All in all it works out well for me.

Today the cellphone is a very common thing. I don't think it is something luxury. Even if a common worker can have a cellphone. I think it is a very necessary thing because I can not only contact others, but also it gives me entertainment. I always bring it when I go out.

It depends on many situations. In some cases, yes it is necessity. We need cellphone to communicate with others. But in other cases, it is almost useless. It is all about luxury, as you said. We can spend much money only for cellphone. It is a big no no. Let's bring it back to the function. Cellphone is all about communication. Luxury is on other side that we do not really need. I think that's all I can share. Happy day!

Everyone needs and uses cellphone lately.Without a cellphone nowadays, you are helpless. No one uses landline to call people. There are many of using a cellphone. You can call someone if there is a emergency, you are in work and other uses of a cellphone.Try one day without using and bring a cellphone to work.

I completely agree I use my cell phone for work because I travel for my job. If something happens on my way to a client or whatever I can use my cell to call the office and let them know and then a tow truck or whatever I would need to get home. I left my phone at home one day and I was lost because I couldnt contact anyone, and they couldn't contact me to cancel.

Wow, some people think themselves waaaay to important. I don't have a cellphone. I used to back when my job required me making calls while out & landlines weren't always available. My present job doesn't require me to make calls so there's no need for it. If someone wants to reach me they can call work or my house & leave a message or email me. There's no need for to be THAT connected! Humans have lived for centuries without em.

i agree cellphone is a necessity and also a luxury...for me it is a necessity because i need my phone in order for my clients to contact me, but as you've said it is also a luxury if the price of the cellphone is much too high. some people actually said that as long as their phones can call or text its fine with them specially the older ones but for the younger ones they need lots of features such as camera, large memory space and wifi capabilities, thats when it becomes a luxury...

Actually that's not true cyrri_ako,a lot of cellphone in my country with low price and that's not luxury thing,my advice is you have to think first before buy cellphone, what do you usually cellphone for, fashion, working, just communicate,or trend, absolutely that was different price. So be wise to choose your cellphone.

For me it is a necessity. It would be very hard for me to do without it. I can do it for a day or two, but not much more than that...

I just commented on similar discussion about cell phone. I use one of the smart phones but still I never use it for any other thing but communicating with people. It is cheap mode of communication. I used to spend about Rs.2000 monthly on my land line phone. I have now disconnected it and use only my cell phone at the cost of about Rs.300 per month plus my internet cable charges of about Rs400. both prepaid. I use this phone for my business as well as my personal use.

It's obviously a necessity, because you always need to communicate with your family of friends, and if you don't own a cell-phone, you would have to pay for using someone else's phone. So, for me it is a necessity, even I don't use the phone too much.
As you said, if the cell phone is very expensive, it is definitely a luxury!, so I use a cell phone that doesn't costs more than $100.

Cellphone is a necessity. With this fast pacing world, constant communication is important and the fastest way to convey what you want to say is through phone call or through sms. Having a cellphone only becomes a luxury when you buy a high-end model even if you know you dont have enough means to own one.
