Guns used by crime victims against attackers.

Would you support the prosecution of a crime victim using a gun to defend themselves against an attacker? What if the crime happened in an area where guns are not legal?

First of all, there is something seriously wrong with law abiding American citizens not being able to protect themselves. Like previous posters, I carry other objects. I bartend in a pretty shady part of town. I do not carry a fire arm to work, first it is illegal in a bar, and second it sets a bad tone and the chances of somebody else getting a hold of it are too great. In answer to your question, you have to look at ramifications. I will use rape as an example. If I were in an area that does now allow people to defend themselves, and I was attacked, I would have to decide if protecting myself and future victims is worth the charge I may get. The answer to that is yes it is worth it. Chances are a jury would understand. If they did not, I would serve my time in peace knowing what I did was right.

Yeah most people don't even care or think of the ramifications of their actions in situations like this. It is a knee jerk kind of reaction for people. Fight or Flight will kick in and in some people they are more likely to try and get away than to fight it off. Some people they get threaten and it will take a lot to stop them from tearing the person a new one. I have an issue with when I feel I am being threatened I will Black out in a rage or bizerk as my friends call it as they learned what happens when they hold me down and pull out a knife I almost ended up choking my friend to a point of black out and I also almost ripped his hair out before they realized I didn't think it was funny and they stopped after getting me to calm down. I couldn't recall any of it they had to tell me what I did. They never did anything like that to me ever again.

there are a lot of people that have that same issue, a lot of them ex military. that is a good indicator not to carry a fire arm often. I break up fights a lot and am known for keeping a cool head. Just a Louisville slugger for protection.

I feel this way. If someone were to try to harm someone unprovoked, and that someone shot out of self defense then no crime is committed. We should be able to protect ourselves and our loved ones without prosecution. It is a shame that criminals have more rights than the people who defend themselves do.

Isn't it interesting that the Founding Fathers welcomed a populace that had the means to overthrow them.
