We do this every year with our church. I do not know how many people do this anymore. I learned the Christmas Carols in grade school and I have lots of good memories about various caroling occasions. Long before I married the first time, my fiance and I would take our younger siblings and various other friends caroling. That is a good memory for me. Are you caroling this year?

hi when I was in college we always went Caroling six weeks around C hristmas from our college and it was such fun. we wou ld be served hot chocolate with marshmallows and apple cider, it was snowinvg as I was in South Dakora in the winter time.we had carolers here on dec 10 in the evening they were about one hundred of them from Darden gropve elementary and high school. they were really good too and after the caroling we were invited to a buffet of all sorts of homemade cakes and cookies and soft drinks what a feast. we did have a lot of fun.

I am glad some of the schools still carry on with this kind of a tradition. The buffet of goodies sounds great as well.

You could go sing to the ducks at your pond. I assume it is warmer where you live than where I live.

Ducks and geese too. And who knows, maybe they'll be more appreciative of my singing than the children are.

I haven't been caroling in years. At the last church my dad pastored before this one, we seemed to do it every Christmas. And if I remember right, we would have some kind of dinner beforehand. And I do remember afterward we'd all go out to get hot chocolate. That WAS fun.

Isn't that a great memory to hold on to? We did it as a choir when I was growing up, and then I took my younger brother and sister and one year my "boyfriend" whom I later married and I took his brother, my brother, sister, some of their friends, some of our friends and then had cocoa afterward.

I hadn't thought about that memory in years. Thanks for reminding me.

I have never done that nor have I lived anyplace where people caroled. I see it on TV and wonder why more people don't do it, it's so sweet. Do the carolers expect to be tipped or something? I saw on a TV drama last night carolers who were doing so to collect for a charity. (They stumbled upon a murder!)

No, we do not expect anything. The event tonight was to visit older people from our church, and then we sang in the hospital wards, and to the firemen who were on duty. Other groups visited nursing homes in town. We had a chili and soup supper afterward. Many of the churches in our community do this.

I know that there is a tradition called La Posada, but am not sure what it involves. We go in groups and do short routes so that we can come back and warm up and eat. First we sing for our supper to the cooks.

I've gone a few times and really enjoyed it, but we don't do it any more. It's sad that a tradition like this has gone by the wayside in so many places. I think it would be awesome to hear carolers along the street like they used to.

Not me. I have memories of people going out caroling in the snow at night in our village and at some of the houses people would invite them in and serve them cookies and hot chocolate. I like to see the houses all decorated with lights and Christmas trees indoors, but I can live without the singing.

Honestly, I've never gone before. I always thought it would be something fun to do. Though this year the GS troop is going to a nursing home to sing carol. I wish I didn't have to work, I'd love to see everyone in her troop trying their best to know the words of the songs.

You would not want to hear me sing Christmas carols! When I was in high school I was in the chorus group and we'd go to the malls and sing Christmas carols. It was fun. But towards the end of high school I started realizing I really couldn't sing as well as I thought.. or maybe my voice got worse with age? I'm very pitchy and rarely in tune. Though I do enjoy watching others sing Christmas carols.

The point of singing in groups is that no one really stands out. You know the Bible says to Make a Joyful Noise!. Singing is something that gets better with practice. My husband will go with us, and he does not carry a tune at all. But he is a good appreciator,

Gerty- It sounds like a wonderful idea! I won't be caroling this year myself, but it would be fun to do in the future if I could organize it. Perhaps as a part of the local Steampunk group here in Minnesota. Namaste-Anora

Hiya GG, No we never go Caroling. But I wish we would or that I could. It´s not really a thing that they celebrate here. I think that it´s still strong in England too and the rest of the U.K. It is something that I really miss sometimes so I have to have my own Carol sing Songs when everyone has gone out.

Here in TN it is a tradition to carol through out the town. It is especially done prior to the theater shows, but unfortunately I had to skip today as I am still down under the covers. Coming up for air every couple hours but this darn bug inside of me just won't go away. It is shifting from head to chest. Now I feel my glands inflamed. It's humbug for me.
