hello friends.. I have never went for Travelling package for any kind of holiday. But I have seen that many people choose those packages to tour certain places or holidays. I want to know that how good are they ?? I have heard that there is rest less travelling in it. Means they having tight schedule to travel across certain places. So we can't get proper rest or we can't see the places properly due to less timing. Is it true ?? Or they are quite good choice of travelling ??

You have the option to choose what kind of package do you want. There is what they call a free and easy package. It only comprises your airfare, hotel and transfers. You have the whole time to do your own stuff. But you can also take the packages that never let you rest. Travel to one place then transfer the next day. It is your choice if you want to cover all the tourist spots in a small period of time or just relax at your own pace.

One free and easy package please! What an attractive name... ! I prefer taking tours at my own pace. I don't enjoy rushed visits to tourist spots!

Many people really settle for travel packages because of the discounts they can get. Usually when you get a tour package it can save you as much as 30-50% than the usual price of the tour. However, travel packages also has their own set of disadvantage. First, slots are limited. You have to make reservations at least 2 or 3 months before the exact day of your travel. In some packages, you can't even choose the date of your travel. It depends on the availability of the flights or means of transportation. Second, travel packages gives you so little time to tour around the place. The alloted time is not enough for you to explore the whole place. And last, some travel packages are misleading. Some would say they have shuttles or free rides going all over your travel place but in reality, they will charge you extra fees. So if you decide to deal with travel agents, you must be very careful.

I am an independent traveler and not a package tourist. A package holiday would typically be a flight, a transfer and accommodation. It would usually last for 7 nights, 14 nights, 10 days or 11 days. A company organized tour wouldn't have much of a rest and it would keep a busy timetable. It could be Monday: Rome, Tuesday: Florence, Wednesday: Venice, Thursday: Zagreb and Friday: Budapest. On a cruise you could only have six to eight hours in each destination. As an independent traveler you could choose where you go and for how long. You could look in a travel guide book and decide on the accommodation that suits you best. A package holiday is like a supermarket own brand. A trip that is perfect can be an independently arranged trip and it is like the customers favorite product.

Innovative example in last... Thanks for sharing your experience.. I have never tried for package travelling for this reason only. I like to move different places with more time and relaxation. Holiday should be like that. No need to rush to move different destination. I always like to stay more if like any particular place. And in travelling package its not possible.

akp did you ever see that older movie if its friday it must be London? that is what I think of travel packages. its better to block out where you want to go and make it loose so you can switch around if you need to and work with your budget and where you yourselves want to go If I had the money and wanted to take a trip i would not go for a trave package at al.

Hi Akp, I have never purchased any package for a holiday. Reason - I find them expensive and too short on the duration of stay. I generally prefer to go on a holiday at odd times of the year - typically off season. As an example - If I were to go to Simla (for those who are not aware - that is a hill station) I would prefer to go when it snows there. I know summers is the peak season and so I avoid the rush and also find discounted prices in the off season. But these package things dont entertain this and continue with their prices. So better to stay away. The other thing is the duration - If I plan it all on my own, I have the luxury of increasing the duration or cutting down the duration of stay at the place... no allowed with the packagers. So I think it is unfair to go with them. Cheers, theSids.

Before sitting with a travel agent and discuss a package, do some ground work on the palace you intend to visit and the cost of travel, stay and food. You can get it in the internet. Use the technology and get some info before making a deal. It will help you negotiate.

Well mostly i don't like travelling and holidays in rush. And as per responses i got above this kind of tour are quite restless and no more time given to spend in our favorite places. So better plan holiday in our own way.
