Dear mylotters,
Out of curiousity, what do you think of WikiLeaks events lately towards politics? Do you think that it will affect countries some how?
Considering that many 'secrets' are out in the open and indirectly jeapodise the relationship between country, it can definitely affect politics right?
Just thought of it though :) Give me your input. Thanks!

Hi nicergi,
I think the whole matter is being blown up and unnecessarily getting attention thanks to the media which has nothing much but to spread all this nonsense. Here is why I think this way -
Every country has a right to plan and execute its policies. And the politics of today is not a simple affair(or maybe it never was). When there are discussions, there are differences of opinions and words spoken out are just for the sake of being spoken. Now at a later time, when something is leaked out, neither the entire matter is understood by others nor there is any sense to it.
Example - Suppose you were appreciating a car and murmured - "What great body and great size". I was overhearing you but I was not looking at the car that you were admiring, and I go ahead and tell others - "There was a freak who was talking about big sizes... and great bodies..." and you know the rest... there goes the whole thing - mis-interpreted and mis-judged.
So I think it is just the media that is making things worse and the CEO of Wikileaks is not doing it right. For the world, it is getting unsafe and I think different people would interpret this as per their own versions and we may be heading towards another war

You are so very correct. Unfortunately it all depends on the people who are having the power at their disposal and how they think about the whole thing - The world as an entity or their own pride... Lets hope for the best that we are destined for.

Seems like it caused a relatively brief flurry of news, and now it is dying down. There is more emphasis on the head of wikileaks that just got out of jail in Britain. Hopefully, this guy can be caught and punished, so it is less likely to happen again.

What is the main purpose of WikiLeaks in doing so?
WikiLeaks explored the weakness of the security of most of the countries.
If this WikiLeaks has been misused by the terrorists, the consequences will be extremely bad.
I just hoppe all of the countries should check back their security system to prevent the leakage of their internal system.
Besides, I just want to stress out that all of the countires have the right to discuss about what they are interested in internally.
If someone as WikiLeaks discloses something which is not supposed to be published out, this WikiLeaks should be detained and investigated.

Yes, i do think so. Much as some countries are denying it, or saying things are being taken out of context, tensions are already there when those information are leaked. At the same time, there's no way a country will apologize for anything being said because it would make them look weak, and vulerable. The only way to get out of the mess is to play around with those words.

lately, its always about wikileaks whenever i open the news here. i honestly believe that yes it will affect countries somehow. there are both pros and cons of the site. well its a good thing cause some information are made known to public, on the other hand, i keep on thinking to myself that there are also issues which really should not be divulge in order to preserve peace and security in this world. ofcourse we dont want to have a third world war

Nicregi-
A few friends of mine from the UK and Australia are very upset over his arrest and what is going on. I have to say after reading what I've read I'm not sure how the US can justify their stance. Our own country leaked the real name of one of our spies and caused this person to be on every hit list from there to kingdom come! No one, and I mean NO ONE was held accountable for that incident. It was virtually swept under the rug until someone decided to come truthful. That's how our government is about a great many things. I love the US, don't get me wrong, but we are not so innocent.
I did here yesterday that there was a hacker who hacked into Visa, Paypal, and Mastercard causing DOS all over the place. Apparently it was a 16 year old who was protesting the arrest. The concern is that these little DOS stunts could turn into something more serious where people target an entire country and try to shut it down. There is a real concern about this turning into Cyber Wars.

Well I beg to disagree with previous answer, how can this guy be doing a bad thing? Exposing politicians weakness is needed for people to open their eyes and realize things aren't all great like that,we must *know* what's happening, the fact that the creator of wikileaks is in jail is an obscene lack of respect for the freedom of speech and a very cynical covering up of the real mess the world lives in!
I hope he comes out and continues to show the public that politic figures aren't untouchable anymore, they are also people and also citizens who must abid the law.
