I've just spent a lovely day with my mum

Today, my mum is 80years young & I took her to visit my son in Manchester where we went to Starbucks, browsed the Christmas markets, had a very nice meal and rode the "Eye". She said it was "the best birthday I've ever had, even if I rolled all the others together". Having her with us, seeing the look on her face and knowing that she knows we love and care for her are priceless gifts to my son and myself.
I am so privileged that, when I came into this world, I got the best deal on mums and that, despite the doctors predictions, she DID reach the age of 16!!
Are you fortunate enough to still have a wonderful mum??

Well, I still have a wonderful mum, she's just not on this plane of existence...
I set up a surprise party for her 80th, in my home. Most of the relatives came and I think it went well. I even arranged for birthday greetings from the mayor, provincial government leader and PM. (That impressed a few...)

I tried for the queen, too, but she only sends out greetings to those who turn 100.

Hi Wizzy. This is quite a coincidence reading this today as it is my mum's birthday today. Yep, 5 days before Christmas. She is only young as she had me when she was a teenager. She is turning 56 today!
The last two years I have travelled back to where we grew up and spent Christmas with the family. I made sure both times that I arrived in time for my mums birthday, which was great. This year we are not visiting the family, so I will Skype video call her today and me and the kids can sing happy birthday to her.
She is a great mum, very loving and caring, although my wife and her do not get along, which makes things a little tough at times!

Yes, I am fortunate enough to still have my mother living. Although there are times she makes me feel like bonking her over the head...lol.. But she knows I love her.. It is awesome that she had a wonderful time. What is the "EYE"? My mother will be 63 in February and I only hope she is still enjoying life as much as your mother is and that I can do something special for her on her 80th birthday.

I do feel like I am very lucky to have been blessed with the mother that I have. She and I have been close throughout my entire life and since I've been an adult and a mother I think that is even more the case between us. She was widowed at a young age and I think that has drawn us closer together than we would have ever been. There is rarely a day that goes by in my life where I don't talk to her since I also consider her to be my best friend.

What a pity as reading the last 2 sentences. And I feel I'm the happier one than you 'cause my Mom is still beside me in my my happiness/sadness.
When I was young, my family was not rich and she worked hard to feed and clothe me as others children. Although I'm not young now, she still keeps contact to me to have simple answers if I'm fine/having any troubles today.
Today I'm a Mom and I understand thoroughly my Mom's inmost feelings. I wish I could be a Mom as her.
Mommy, I love you with all my heart. :x

My mom has been gone for over nine years, and for many years was not the type to get out and about with us. On the other hand, I can see the many unique things in my personality that I got from her. It makes me who I am. My mom was 80 when she passed. It was just a year after HER mom passed at 100. Enjoy every moment you can.

Hiya Wizzy,
What a nice Day out you all had then it sounds really great. I love your Mum´s Photo I did write a very small caption but no matter.
For you Mum to know that you love her and care for her I don´t think she will forget that Birthday in a long long time.
Here´s to many more Celebrations like that one. Love it.
Doctors said my Godmother had three months to live and she lived thirty odd years more such a brave Woman. They are only Human though and I am glad that your Mum is here to tell the Story.
I feel like I have been on a Day out with all of you the way you describe it there well just for a few seconds anyway.

I still have my mum and spending all day with her doing something is always being the most wonderful days for me. I don't always see my mum when I'm working in another city and she always sends me a text or call me saying she misses me and wanting me to go home. Now that I'm with my family again, I always follow my mum wherever she goes and we also always watch movies together. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day
