Being a native English speaker, and having taught the language in Japan, I know that it is one of the hardest languages to learn. Where most languages are very rule based, English has more exceptions to the rule making learning the rules in the first place almost a hinderance. English also pulls in words from other languages. all languages due this to some extent, but instead of changing it to be more English like, they just keep the original word. So people learning the language for the first time are going to encounter words from other languages as well.

You have done a very nice job explaining the difficulties of learning English and I am sure your first hand experience is very valuable. Even people who are born in an English speaking country have a hard time learning to use English correctly.

You don't learn it all in one setting. You have to at least start with small words, how to pronounce it and read a lot of books. You can build English if you read a lot, trust me.

Hi, I see that you're from China. Hello! I've skimmed through some Chinese language books because I wanted to learn about your language. (I currently don't have the time but I'll get to it someday.) One barrier I see when learning another language is the difference between the sentence patterns of a person's native language and the language that person wants to learn. Compared to Chinese, there are more parts of speech in the English language compared to your language and that the arrangement of words are very different. I suggest you learn English from your perspective and try to translate to your language. For example, here is name: "Mr. John". If I'm not mistaken, it's translation in Mandarin is "John xian seng"? That's a simple example of word arrangement. When learning English, think through the difference of sentence patterns between English and Chinese. I hope I was able to explain that well and I hope I was able to help just even a bit. Welcome to myLot and have a nice day!

you have to spend much time to parctise English, if you are interested in it, it would be easier for you to learn it. you can improve your english by watching English TV programs, that's my favorite way. by the way, you are learning it because of school subject or you need it to communicate?

Greetings! There's something you could do. :) You just have to be patient. Not all of the things are easy to learn. You must practice and practice, watch English movies, read dictionaries and many more. There are lot of ways. You can also buy a book that is interesting for you but it must be in English. Reading can help you. :)

As a native English speaker I will tell you that English is not really easy to learn. It does not always proceed in a logical manner. On the other hand, I know I would have a very hard time learning your language. If you are not around people who speak English, you will have a hard time learning how to speak and write English. MyLot is a pretty friendly place to start learning about English, the people are friendly and there are a lot of different interests so you will probably not be bored.

My daughter when she was small was so fond of watching Nikolodean, Cartoon Network and Disney Channel. Before i knew it , she can speak and understand English even before she gets into Preparatory School. But i guess, in your case, maybe you should try learning the language itself first. You should try to hear how a word is pronounced too. Lastly, practice it. . .speak to English speaking persons. To inform you, my daughter now nearly graduating in College teaches English to Japanese persons thru Skype. They have different methods of teaching which they were trained at, before they started to be tutors.

hi friend? learning english word is not so hard..,well let me give you some tips., 1. collect at least one word everyday 2. Search for the meaning of the word, 3. and use those words in a sentence always practice yourself on how to speak english, dont think that it is hard, because the more you think it as hard the more you do not learned anything, be a trying hard person, dont mind others if your english is not correct, as long as you practice yourself.
