Some people are lucky to get a high income and low stress job, or they enjoy the work so much that stress is not a factor.
Most of us are not that fortunate. We either work in high income high stress job or low income low stress job.
Some people prefer the low income and low stress job, such as the daily rate workers. Once they get out of workplace, they do not worry about work anymore. They do not need to bring work home, since their jobs hardly allow that.
For example, those packers in the big departmental stores or dealers in the casino. Once they are out of workplace, their jobs end. If they stay longer at work, they are likely to earn overtime rate.
Some people are in high income and high stress job, such as the accountants, the IT persons and the office workers.
They need to finish the work by a certain deadline. Even when they are on vacation, they need to answer phone calls from boss or colleagues. The work does not end just because the working hours end.
Which would you prefer? High income high stress job or low income low stress job? If you are fortunate to work at a high income low stress job, please share your secret of getting such a job.

Hi there!
I myself love big income and I don't mind the stress that comes with it. Currently I have a high stress job with low income which I am truly not happy about. It would depends on how you see it. Some like to have pressure like me. For me, stress makes me work well but in return, income must be good. Low stress is fine once we have enough money or near retirement. Since we are young, we got to excel and work out heart out.
Happy mylotting!

Hi Nicregi, I really pity you for getting such a high stress job with low income. I think it is really not worth the time to take so much stress for low income. The damage to your health is not worth it.
I agree that the income must be enough to compensate us for the stress level. No point working so hard, and getting so stressed, yet earning just peanut.
I do not agree with the point about getting low stress and low income job once we are near retirement.
That is the time when we are wise enough to contribute ideas and experience to the company, and as such, the income must be enough to compensate for it.

Hey! Thanks for replying. Oh yes, you definitely have a great point. I actually knew a few friends who are near retirement and they op to have a more simple life. This is because they earned big money and nice amount of EPF during their younger days to really have savings. Well, I got to agree with your saying that the older we are the wiser we get and because of that and experience, we could be holding super high post when we are near retirement. Have a great day!

Stress may not be related to the pay as much as it is to the capability factor of the person doing the job. No matter how hard it is to do a job, proper training and aptitude makes it relatively stress free. Deadlines are there for every one, how one handles the job to beat the deadline is what matters to be stress free.

Hi Webearn, generally low stress job pays lesser, while high stressed job pays well. One example is the investment banking sector. The job pays very well, but since the investment bankers have to make profits to the company, and meet deadlines, the stress level is really very high.
It does not matter how much training or how smart the person is, the job itself is very stressful.
Nothing can make it less stressful. That is why those bankers can retire young and rich. Once they have enough money, they do not want the stress that comes with the job.

I think its quite common seeing that in most companies especially in big corporations. You could sometimes observe that some people usually who do more work are paid lesser than those who do less. It sometimes also depend on your position, some people are on a higher position and they do less work but they usually make decisions and get paid more while others who are in a lower position would work hard everyday and still get paid lesser as compared to their bosses who don't work as much as they do. Sometimes it still depends on what company you are in and position that you have. But the most important thing of all is if you enjoy the work you do then you wont probably feel how tiring it is in the first place.

I'd prefer the job with high income, stress is fine as long as you love what you're doing. It will make you strive hard to deliver an impressive output. Also, I easily get bored if I do less and repetitive task. So, I dont mind if its a stressful job, what matters is I love the job and you get a reasonable payment.
