OK, so i have been playing guitar for a while, and i haven't taken any lessons. I still like to say I,m a decent guitar player. In my experience, I feel that the easiest way to learn guitar is to learn your basic chords and scales, and then learn to play your favorite songs all the way through. this worked for me, and now I am able to improvise really easily. It is also a lot less expensive than lessons.

I learned by starting off with a tab chart and a chord chart so that I could compare the two as I progressed... and from Youtube uer Gally042

I think the best way to learn guitar is to take some lessons or find a friend who knows how to play and can show you. I recently took some guitar lessons and it was really fun. Long ago a friend of mine showed me how to play a little, but I had forgotten. A class is nice because then you can meet other people who are beginners and make some friends.
The hardest part I think about first learning guitar is building up the callouses on your fingertips. If you practice a lot, you can do it quickly, but for the first few times you play, those strings really dig into your fingers and it hurts! Especially the smallest string! But if you do it everyday for a week or so, it will go away and not hurt anymore.
