Is there a legal way to have multiple operating systems?

I'm going into tech support and in order to keep up (down?) with the older operating systems, I want to run a copy of them in a virtualization software. Pirating is illegal... is there a legal way for me to have a copy of, say, windows 98 installed on my computer in vmware?

I haven't done vmware before, but it is possible to have 2 operating system running on the same machine though. I just don't know if you can try to install multiple operating system on the same machine or not. I just haven't done it before.

If you have the original copy of Windows 98 you can use it with other operating systems, now I do not understand a thing you do not have a copy of Windows 98 and want to get a copy? If you have a copy can be installed, now you have to use Windows 98 is old has bugs is better to use a newer system like Windows or a Linux distribution 7.
