BuxJunction, Bux-Matrix, etc. under DDOS attack?

Hey, I'm a regular member of these websites. I haven't been able to access them recently, as they say that they are under some sort of DDOS attack? What does that mean? Did someone hack them, or was there like a website bug or programming error?
