Does anyone hate grocery shopping as much as I do???

Every time I go grocery shopping it is a nightmare, because I am frustrated by the terrible prices that they put on food that is covered in pesticides, or worse genetically modified, and I can't even tell unless I buy organic (which is even more outrageously expensive).
So, lately, I have hated going not just because it puts a damper on my wallet, but because it is upsetting that we are not even allowed to know what is genetically modified and what isn't. I know that they do that in Europe. I really can't understand why we are behind on this. Same with pesticides...
The other day I bought two types of tomatoes. When you sliced one, it looked like it was squishy inside and you can't really see the seeds (kind of like a frozen tomato inside), the other looked pretty good. I have started to associate the weird "frozen" looking one with GM foods, so that is how I know for now...does anyone else have any ideas about this, can you tell what is GM or not? Also, how do you feel about this issue?

Yes, I hate shopping. But I hate shopping especially at Wal Mart. The lines the people, the prices, the parking all drive me completely insane

Oh I totally, totally agree with you. It is the most money-sucking store, and the prices are always going up and down. Even before you get to the register!

For me I took a moral stand against shopping at Walmart. You'd think given the humble beginnings of Sam Walton, they wouldn't engage in such unethical practices to be successful. Has anyone ever seen the films Walmart Nation and Is Walmart Good for America?

Thanks for sharing!
The other day I was in Walmart (purchasing non-food items, lol- my once a month stop for essentials) and the lady there told me that it was the worst place to work for. That you cannot even get a promotion there unless you are in the "in crowd."
I see a class action lawsuit coming...soon. They just had one recently about women employees being discriminated too.

I absolutely hate grocery shopping. Aside from the tedium of getting food in for the week, i.e.the schlepping to the stores, and putting it all away when I get in, I have no trust whatsoever in those who are charged with feeding and watering us. What with all the food tampering and the stores pushing the envelope when it comes to freshness, you just can't be sure what you're eating anymore.
I long for the day when I can be self sufficient and no longer dependent on corporate "food".

Me too. I live in the concrete jungle. I don't even have space to grow herbs. One day! I hope. My sister grows veggies in her backyard now. I hope to be able to too. At least the ones that are really pesticide full, like bell peppers, which I love...
Hate the tedium ALOT too. Especially where I live...tons of stairs! LOL.

I did a garden the last two summers. Last year I kept a blog about it. I got a lot of enjoyment from the gardening process, and I liked the idea of eating something that I grew myself. I'll tell you, I didn't know what a green bean or a tomato tasted like until I grew my own. What a difference! I have a link to my garden blog on my profile if you want to have a look.

I have lived and farmed in Ontario Canada for over 50 years. Our farm produces Grade A Beef and Pure Canadian Honey. The care and quality of our products is reflected by the way our customers flock to buy from our Farm Store. Fair prices, high quality, and a minimum of chemicals is the secret of our good sales. If you are not happy with the quality, cost, or production practices of the food you buy, go directly to the producer. There is nothing to be gained by complaining at the store, where only the bottom line is important. The farmer-producer is interested, and will listen to your problems. (If you ate today Thank a farmer!)

Thanks! :)
I wish you were in my area! We purchase desert honey here, I hope it is safe from chemicals (but I don't think they put anything on the desert plants). But, the beef I buy is definitely not the same as yours. It has hormones and antibiotics, etc. When I bought organic a few times it was double the price. My meager funds could not handle that.
But, I will try and look into it. I guess there is nothing else for it, you are correct about the bottom line issue too.

Even though I'm girl but I really hate shopping for anything unless when I'm really already desperate to get the thing.I hate the prices, long lines, the choosing activity, and after that carrying those stuff back to my house. If not then another amount of money for taxi or stand up in the bus not being able to get any seat. I always love it every time I go back to my village because we plant what we eat everyday, rice, vegetables, and we also have many chickens. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Not Only do I hate grocey shopping but I Hate Shopping in general. To me it is very boring. If it was up to me people would do everything over the phone. I only have to go out if I have too, and if it is cold out side forget it. If I do have to go to the store I go get what I need and then turn around and walk out. I hate to just walk around a store just for the fun of it.

Yeah. I agree with you about that. I try to minimize all my shopping to one or two trips a month. Can't stand it at all.

It is extremely difficult now-a-days to differentiate healthy and pure food articles from adulterated and harmful ones. Most of the green vegetables that looks refreshing and eye catching have high content of pesticides and lethal chemicals. The commercial stores have the sole objective of exploiting innocent consumers by charging exorbitant prices and making public life unhealthy, risky and disease prone. To withstand the adverse effect of such GM and chemical stuffed foods, one need to be selective and cautious. Further,it is also essential to regularly take nutritive food supplements that adds vitality to the physical system, neutralize the harmful effect of our adulterated intakes, and keep our immuno-system in perfect order.Thanks.

Yes, I totally agree with you. I was reading on the news that Cancer is a man-made disease, linked to pesticides, and that soon in the future every 1 out of 3 people will have cancer. Isn't that terrible!

Yes I hate it because even if I make a shopping list, I still always forget half the stuff I've written on it. Also, I find that I'm overwhelmed when in a supermarket and faced with lots of food (even though I love eating) and I just can't decide what to buy. I often find that I no longer fancy what I've put onto my list so try to choose different things, but can't. It sounds silly, but often I'll come home without having bought anything other than the basics like milk and bread.
