Well, I wanted a watch. I got to check out watches and saw some good finds like a Timex watch. My dad bought one for me all of a sudden which costs generally good. I am asking this, because is the brand good enough to be long term? Any comments about the brand?

Although not fashionable or trendy Timex is a good brand when it comes to affordable reliability. Timex has been around for a long time, and they make watches from sports watches to watches that would go better with formal dress. The thing about Timex is that they are moderately priced. If you want something to tell time, and that's all you need Timex is great. If you're looking for a fashionable piece of jewelry as well as something to tell time Timex probably isn't the brand you're looking for. Timex has always made decent watches for everyday use, but don't expect it to be a Rolex, or Omega.

Thank you for responding. I did get a Timex that was nice it is fashionable in my opinion. But, will it stand for a year or more? I saw a Tissot watch though it was around a hundred bucks more, sadly, when I told my dad he already bought the Timex. Maybe some other time for the Tissot.

I've seen Timex watches last well over a year. It's been a long time since I've owned a Timex, and I'd imagine the technology behind the watch is much better than 10 or 15 years ago when I owned my last Timex watch, and back at that time I think I got 2 or 3 years use before I had any issues at all with it.

Well, thank you for your response. I think it will still serve me good for more years. If only I would take good care of it.

Timex is a reliable watch especially when it comes to sports watches. They have an Ironman Series for athletes which is cheap considering its functions. I want to have one like it, but first I have to train for triathlon. Seriously, I used Times when I was in my swimming craze. It's very dependable.

Well, I heard even a former president of the U.S. used Timex as his watch. It might be really good then.
