I can't. This batch I thought I would try to not taste it. But it sits there in the bowl mocking me!! lol! I just couldn't do it - I had to taste the dough! It was okay but I've had better. Can you make cookies without tasting the dough?do you have a favorite type of dough?

Absolutely not! I eat the dough every single time.
My favorite is chocolate chip.
Ironically, my sister told me yesterday, that she made a batch of cookies....just to eat some of the dough, because she was PMSing. LOL

LOL...I have to laugh, because as I am sitting here on MyLot, I am also baking Christmas cookies. For every 5 or 6 cookies I put on the sheet, I just HAVE to sample the raw cookie dough! Wow...do I sample the cookie dough. I must have a bunch of undigested cookie dough in my stomach over the last 3 days that I have been baking. I think my favorite cookie dough is good old fashioned chocolate chip cookie dough. However, today I am making butter cookies and that sure does taste good too! I really have to stop eating the dough...but I just can't!

Allot of the time when I make cookies I don't eat the dough at least as of lately but I used to try the dough all the time but sometimes that wasn't a good idea because some batter don't taste good until baked. I do really like chocolate chip cookie dough that is my favorite.

It is true that some of them don't taste too good until they are baked. Ginger cookies are like that! But I love most doughs!!

If I am determined not to eat the dough, I won't.. but the only reason I wouldn't want to eat the dough is to save myself from the calories, fat, and carbs.. and when I'm focused on not eating calories, fat, or carbs then I don't bother baking as what's the point?
My favorite dough is probably just regular home made chocolate chip cookie dough.

I used to make regular biscuits and simply loved the dough when you roll it out to cook it. Except after I got them all made I wasn't hungry any more!

Hi, i've never done cookies, cakes too, but i'll have to try for the New Eve celebration, so i'm planning to learn how to do it.
I'll taste the dough for sure, this is how i'll understand what will be the taste of the cookies. There will be tiny piece of it, but i have to do it, i don't want to risk, for my first time, to waste products and electricity and everything for something, which won't be tasty.

Hi mac!.
I am not really expert in baking too. I only able baking simple cake and brownies. Cookies is never my expertise. I think if can still taste the dough maybe its will be OK if you baking it a little bit longer.
I planing making cookies too this Christmas if I had simple recipe, not to hard to made. I had so many butter at home and still don't have clue what to do it. We never use butter to cook, so we usually just put it in bread which I think will last forever for 5 KG butter if we only used it for that.

i can't, i be so curious if the taste is good, if there's enough salt/sugar...like today, i made this vegan-beef recipe i discover (i have to put on youtube to help other vegans, definetly) and there wasn't enough salt so i kept adding
cooking is fun, specially with some video to watch beside

absolutely not and i also think.....what fun would that be to make cookies or cakes for that matter and not taste the dough....that is half the fun...I love the smell of vanilla, the taste of chocolate, chocolate chip and virtually most doughs except peanut butter....

Wow! I never knew that raw dough can actually be eaten:) I made cookies several times already like chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal cookies but It never really came to my mind to taste the dough. I find it weird eating the dough. When I bake I dont really follow the exact amount used in the recipe especially the amount of sugar. Usually I cut into half the amount of sugar needed in the recipe because most of the time I find it too much for the recipe and usually it turns out fine and just right to my family's taste. Anyway, I was just surprised when I encountered this topic especially after reading all the responses because most of those who replied have really tasted the dough. Well, maybe I should try it on my next cookie:)

As far i know, probably the mixture is not mature enough. You need to mixed it till the dough become soft..for a cake you need to make sure the eggs is blended well. The most important is you need to mix the ingredient properly and measure it well. happy cook!

I can not believe that there are people who do not taste the dough when making cookies! I would sneak the cookie dough when my mom made cookies every time! After a while she and I would just get a big spoonfull and enjoy it together. Not tasting the dough would be blasphemy! Sometimes I make cookie dough just to eat the dough lol. Oh and my goodness, Brownies!!!!! When I was little my dad would make brownie mix and we would eat it like pudding! It's soooooo good and way better than pudding.

Heck no!! I can't do that - I have to try it even if I am making peanut butter cookies & I detest peanut butter! My fave dough would have to be shortbread dough - I love it to bits.
