I have a lot of friends who are addicted to facebook and they seem to not focus more on their studies. What can one do to help recover from this addiction?

Yes, it also influence my life, too. I have a suggestion, let's make your friends thinks that if they open facebook, tell them it is the same as talking lively. Or make a schedule for your friends when they have to study and when they can open their facebook. It require discipline and consistency if you and your friend wanted to success.

Facebook used to rule my life. Whenever I would do homework, I would end up getting distracted and start procrastinating. To recover from this, I started doing my homework with the computer off. It has helped me finish my work a lot faster because I was able to concentrate and focus. After that I would be able to go on Facebook. Think about it this way: access to the computer and Facebook is a reward from the completion of homework. Sometimes I need the Internet to help me with homework but I will often stay away from Facebook. If I ever do on Facebook, one of my friends always keeps me on track so I end up talking to him I'm doing homework so I don't get distracted. Also, he helps me with homework. I think the key to Facebook is learning how to control. When I first joined Facebook, I'll spend anywhere from 3 to 4 hours a day on the site. Now, whenever I go on Facebook, I just checked my notifications, skim to my wall, respond to PMs, etc., and then I will minimize the tab.I truly spend around five minutes a day on Facebook and then minimize the window. If I get an IM message, I will open up the window again and talk to whoever is messaging me. But that is only time I use Facebook. Your friends just need to find a limit on when to use facebook.

Facebook is by far the most attractive and entertaining social network,so I'm surprised many people simply forget that there are other things in life which are more important, such as studies.I'm afraid recovery from this addiction is very difficult;some people need to be kept away from computers by constraint for a while;I don't see a better solution.

Actually they are taking it other way round. For me face book is for being is contact with your loved ones but being all the time on it is. Not good becus this way you are not taking interest in your daily work which is your lively hood and duty too. We simply have warn them about their duty which is the positive in nature or tell them to be on face book during their off time..........

Well, I don't frequent Facebook as I find it weird to update my status every now and then. Mylot is better than Facebook in that sense LOL. For some of my classmates, they have already been addicted to facebook and most of them play the games inside, which I don't find fun at all. Most of them love to look at their friend's status just to pass their time.
